Tell me of bluetooth helmet coms please....

Looking at Sena and Scala...few Chinese ebay jobbies too.
Fairly simple needs, just nav & phone.
Don't require bike to bike (or group) or any of that stuff.
Just reliable, easy to use, good battery life, unobtrusive.
    How hard can it be?
Looked on youTube...there are videos that last over 45 mins...but tell you sod all...jeeezzzzzus.
    Anyone able to recommend?
    Cheers all....

I would recommend Sena. Have the smh10 and S20. Both work well for your intended use.

I have an S20. Not cheap but so much better than the wired one I had about 30 years ago, otherwise not experienced any other makes.

I have the Sena 20s. So do three of my mate’s and it’s great to have 4 way comes when riding. Built in radio too but if it’s just for yourself - nav and phone, any old cheapie should do although the Sena is pretty good quality.

I have a Sena 20s , I use it for phone and nav. Can be a bit iffy on initial setup as you have to make the Garmin zumo the hub. Was faultless running around Italy in torrential rain, however I have heard Sena described as showerproof not waterproof.

Scala are supposed to be very good for adding riders using their paktalk feature. However you say you dont need that.

Couple of my pals have Aldi specials £20 ish and rate them also.

    Not sure Im helping here.

I'd buy that or the 20s. The 10 doesn't seem cheap enough to warrant so would get the 20 if the 5 is too cheap for you.

Tell me of bluetooth helmet coms please....

SMH5 works for me and my Nav V. iPhone paired to Nav V,
Nav V paired to Sena works a treat, music and calls via Sena.

    I turn of Nav directions.

Works fine connected to my mate’s Sena 10U

    Scala

I have had a couple of the cheap units off eBay and they’re okay but as you might expect not really made to last. I’m currently using a scala rider unit that works well.

Mrs. B and I use the Sean 10s and it’s pretty much all we need.

Updating the software is a pain in the neck, it other than that, no complaints.

I have the Sena 10c which is also a video camera. It’s quite pricey but I’ve been pleased with both the audio and camera quality. Rather than recording all the time I usually have it in video tagging mode which means I can press a button and it saves the previous and following 2 minutes.

I have Sena 10u and it’s been great, always connects to my iPod and phone and battery life is long. Very clear for calls at speed.

I have used the Interphone Tour, paired with 2 of my ride buddies for a while now. I know you said you didnt want bike to bike chat, but if you try it I would bet you’d never look back. Its a game changer being able to chat with your mates whilst out on a ride. Obviously if you go down that route look into pairing compatibility first. They can also be used for phone and sat nav. I dont have a bike specific satnav and just use my phone. The instructions are clear enough.

I have recently bought a Shoei Neotec 2 lid, along with the Sena SRL fitted intercom. This is a much sleeker looking design and is integrated into the lid, so no additional ‘box’ on the side. I found this was slightly better as there is little if any wind noise, with the box on the side you will get some wind noise, but its not much.

I deffo prefer the Sena kit overall. It seems clearer on voice comms, the satnav is also a tad clearer. However, and more important for me with impaired hearing, the volume can actually be set louder as well.

I have never tried the cheaper chinese stuff but I cant see why you wouldnt try it if its only for phone and nav stuff tbh.

I bought a couple of the cheap Chinese ones ... work fine. £48 - even cheaper on Aliexpress.
    https://smile.amazon.co.uk/FreedConn...dp/B00PKECDXI/

    Does everything I need ..
Connect to phone : answer calls, listen to music, hear sat-nav voice (I don't listen to music or take calls on the move!)
Connect to pillion - chat away perfectly well.
    Lasts all day.

ETA £28 if you can wait for it to come from China!!

    Tifa,
I sent you a message offering you a free one in exchange for a fundraiser contribution. I'll assume you have not seen the message although you've been on here since I sent it.

This will be my 9th year with Scala G4 unit - paired to pals’ Rider and G4 units. Even now - I get all day comms (open mic) with them.

You sometimes see used - individual units and twin-sets on Bike forums and EBay. Just make sure you test them as soon as you receive them.

Range is good, and we can have 3 people on the same ‘loop’
