Thread: Omega speedmaster x-33.

    Omega speedmaster x-33.

I'm not generally a quartz fan, and the only digital lve generally given much time to is the original shape g-shock in its incarnations, but the "skywalker" really "speaks to" me in the pics lve seen.
I'm sure we have a few owners on here - what are your opinions on this watch as a day to day wearer?

I’ve had one. Personally I like the MK2 version myself.

I have owned all three iterations of the X33, and the Z33 too. The Z33 was a stunning looking watch but, even with my 8 1/4 inch wrists, it simply was just too high. The X33 gen 1 & 2 Formed part of my small collection several times, the gen 2 being (in my opinion) the pick of the X33 line up. I had the Solar Impulse LE Skywalker and it really was a beauty to look at, the lume bezel was simply stunning. However, were the X33 to figure in my collection again (and that is not unlikely) I would be looking for a nice gen 2 rather than the Skywalker.
Just my thoughts though, which are obviously subjective.

I’m a big fan of the Skywalker - also have a Gen1 but prefer the Skywalker - not owned the Gen2.

It wears smaller than it is and is super comfortable on the wrist. Has a function and timer for everything and is easy to use once you get used to it.

Very, very legible and super accurate - mine is running 2 to 3 seconds fast per year!!!

Only downside for me is the backlight only stays on for 5 to 6 seconds so you can run out of time while setting functions (the X-33 GEN 1 and 2 light stays on while you complete the task).

Looks a lot better than the earlier versions in my opinion - one cool looking watch.

I like them. Fantastic functionality and weigh next to nothing. Must do an updated group shot sometime.

Love it in all it’s incarnations but prefer the Z33 and the Skywalker.
I know you will not like Z 33, so would recommend the Skywalker.

I’ve got the standard Skywalker and I absolutely love it. It’s hugely legible, the control scheme is well thought through and easy to get one’s head around, and it looks great. Oh, the alarm is loud enough to wake the dead, too. It’s my go-to travel watch and is sufficiently accurate that I use it as the reference for setting all the other watches. Well within 10 seconds a year, which is most satisfying!

Other thoughts: the Ti bracelet is super comfy, if slightly fiddly to size since it lacks micro adjustment. Like other Speedmasters, it’s very versatile and looks good on a variety of straps.

Oh, finally, if you end up getting a Gen 1, I really recommend swapping the crown for a Gen 2. version, it’s a trivially easy modification and makes the watch a lot easier to use.

    Gen II owner here.

Great watch full of features you will use, and some of you probably wont. Greatly design and easy to use functions, loud alarm that will actually wake you.

Being Ti its very light for a large watch which makes it super comfy to wear it hotter weather.

Great article - looks like mine was one of the first 100! Tested and Certified rather than Tested and Qualified.

I have always loved this model but, sadly, never had one. Maybe in the future.

I'm not convinced that it was only the first 100. Here are my two Skywalker case backs.

Amazing watch although you need a PHD in astrophysics to initially set the time

It's ESA official page. I don't see why they should give wrong facts there.

Happy to be proved wrong but three already posted here in the first 100 seems like long odds.

I must try one sometime, I love the flightmaster style case but I do have slight reservations regarding the height.

If it helps bring balance to the Force, my Skywalker is merely “tested and qualified”. Sigh.

Not sure if it works under a shirt cuff, but day to day no issue.

    Omega speedmaster x-33.

Skywalker was the best quartz I’ve ever owned, one of the most comfortable daily wearers and I think they look just awesomely cool..... I reckon they are a great buy at current prices too.

They are bonkers level of functionality. You can even hack it beyond the user manual/instructions and re-program layouts/preferences.

I found it a bit of a lump!

    Wish I’d kept my MK2

    Really? Tell me more...

I have to say that, when l started this thread, l thought it would quite possibly be unanswered - what with the darling brand and models generally dominating the forum over recent years.
I'm really glad l did though. X-33 owners seem really happy with their watches. They seem to be a really practical and functional bit of gear and I want one!!!

Just a quick question is the Z33 astronaut qualified as well? Or whatever the term is

Nope. Designed with suitable functionality though. The X-33 Gen 1 and Gen 2 are flight qualified by NASA whilst the Skywalker is qualified (or certified) by the ESA.

It just shouts “retro-cool” combined with precision engineering.
