Don’t use it again.
Ring a plumber!
This is the last thing that i needed! Just had a bath, i normally shower but i had wrist surgery yesterday. when i came downstairs water was dripping through one of the light fittings. i'm still a bit woozy from general anaesthetic and tramadol, what should i do
Put the plug in the bath first. Sounds like the waste pipe might be leaking.
Click the RCD for the downstairs lights then contact plumber.
Similar thing happened to us a few years ago, I sourced it to a split hot water cylinder.
Exactly this, we had the same thing in our new build. The joint just needed tightening up.
Quick job once the bath panel has been removed.

thanks guys, unfortunately the bath panel is tiled so its not going to be such a quick fix.
i only have one arm to work with so will need to call someone in
this really is not my best week
Unless there’s another way to access under the bath, the panel will have to come off. Or at least part of it.
It may be possible (depending on tiles/layout) to carefully cut an access hatch in the panel in case it happens again.
1) Turn off electricity
2) Drain bath, ie pull the plug out.
3) Take deep breath because the panic is over
4) Phone friend / relative / plumber.

I know this may sound wrong ...
But if there is a lot of water dripping down
I’d poke a few little holes in the ceiling to let the water escape and place buckets underneath
Otherwise you’ll loose the full ceiling;-)
If you have emergency cover through your home insurance, call them.
Hope you get it sorted and it’s just a loose connection
check the plug hole , if the screw or drain are loose then the connection is broken .
simple to replace once the bath panel is off
Crisis over, got a handyman round to remove a panel and tighten the connection. Could have done without the drama today though.
Glad that's sorted and you can concentrate on getting over your operation. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
