6 years since my last SOTC!

It’s been 6 years since I last posted a SOTC. I had 8 watches last time and this has now reduced to 6. Only one watch remains from that original 8 and even that one is not the same watch just a different model.
I have gone off steel as a case material focussing on lighter and interesting alternatives. I also seem to be leaning towards limited editions!
Anyway, enough rambling, lets see where I am:

I have always had a Fifty Fathoms in the collection so going to start there. This is titanium version released at Basel last year. It’s actually much darker blue in the flesh. Classic watch.

Next up is a Zenith Stratos Rainbow Flyback. This is a limited edition of 250 pieces made from Black Alchron which is a mix of titanium and Aluminium. Love the colours!

Next up is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore “Bumble Bee”. Case made from carbon with ceramic bezel. Love wearing this at weekends with jeans, just looks cool!

Next up is a Linde Werdelin MoonLite. Probably one of the best executions of the moon phase complication I have seen. It glows like a torch and is made from ALW (alloy Linde Werdelin) which is used in the aerospace industry and has a chameleon colour, changing from light grey to blue/grey. Light as a feather and limited to 59 pieces.

Next up is a Girard Perregaux WW.TC. Love the execution of the world time complication all driven from the crown not by pushers. This is a rare black titanium version. Although the dial is busy it just works and wears beautifully on the wrist and superbly made.

And finally, my everyday ‘work’ watch. This is an H. Moser & Cie, “Bryan Ferry” in rose gold. A reimagining of a very early Moser pocket watch in conjunction with Bryan Ferry. I love the blued hands and the red 12. Simply stunning and limited to 100 pieces.

Thanks for reading. The journey continues, who knows what’s next!

Love! The AP and Moser are the standouts for me but all far more interesting choices than we usually see.

Wow, what an eclectic collection! I love the idea of having watches as different as the Moser and the Linde Werdelin. There’d never be any question of not knowing what watch to wear for a given occasion.

I do like the Moser (and the discrete power reserve) - the caseback is lovely too. Nice idea on Bryan Ferry replacing Swiss Made. Any idea why the red/maroon accents? Not obvious from the reviews.

Very modern collection. None of the usual classic (e.g. speedmaster and submariner) repertoire.

That AP must be built like a tank!

I couldn't find much out either apart from the input from Bryan Ferry himself. I found this picture of the pocket watch it was based on.

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. My tastes have always been a bit left field and I've made plenty of mistakes along the way. I know there are further changes ahead but at least my purchases are not quite as impulsive as they used to be!

This is an amazing collection. I love the fact you’ve followed what you want and not what the crowd tells you is good.

As others have said, lovely collection. You certainly have a preference for colour which is good to see.

Wasn't expecting the Moser after seeing the rest, which made a lovely change and not a model I was familiar with.

I had the stainless steel bracelet on the LW "the one" which I owned a while back. Great bracelet but unfortunately they don't make one in the ALW material the same as the moon lite case so it wouldn't match.

That LW is just stunning, had a few LWs myself and love the style and attention to detail. Superb and eclectic gathering.

A very admirable collection. I especially like the Zenith, the 'Rainbow' name is very apt.
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

One would think so but the Rainbow has nothing to do with the color scheme. They come with black or white dials too.

I've just added the steel version of the Zenith Rainbow Flyback re-edition to my collection so appreciate that one! The others - fantastic effort - the BumbleBee looks super fun.

Rainbow is the names of an America’s Cup winning boat that is featured on the case backs of the Zeniths.
