Goodbye to an Speedmaster Ed White - suggestions?

    Folks,

I was lucky enough to get an immaculate Ed White several years back before the madness started, with a great set of memorabilia to boot. But I’m mostly done with watches now, and this is just not getting worn. I don’t fancy the whole selling on Sales Forum (or eBay) for something so valuable, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a specialist I could sell it to?

    Cheers

    Dave

Talk to the chaps at Fellows Auctions. I am looking to do something similar with some of my watches.

For something like that I would also have a chat with Watches of Knightsbridge. They put together some very impressive catalogues and as a result seem to get good prices for clean watches, because their universally high standards seem to get high rollers bidding for the more approachable lots. I have not kept pace with them as people, but thy auctioned off a large proportion of an acquaintance's collection and the fees were quite reasonable (just looked it up, 15% of hammer price, inc of VAT).

Would be interested to know what killed your interest in watches?

Time, Joey. I’ve been collecting for over 15 years, maybe more. I’ll get down to two, then I’ll be done.

Not the guy that bagged the one off watchuseek a few years ago for a bargain? Seem to remember a thread on here about an Ed white from there and it being bargain of the decade.

Goodbye to an Speedmaster Ed White - suggestions?

Why not sell it privately? If it goes to auction and sells for £20k inc buyers premium (I’m not saying it’s worth that just an example) you the seller will only see around 60% of that = £12k. It would be much better to sell here for £15k

P.s. please can we have a photo

Nice. Have you the original bracelet and case back?

Original caseback, magnetic insert, crown and pushers :-)

Bracelet, no :-(. That’s a custom end piece one.

Are you sure? The bracelet appears to be a 1125 so £300 odd instead of a couple of £k. It’s impossible to tell anything from the photos but the case looks good
