Rather unimpressed. The presenters played off each other well, but felt too forced and scripted. And while the "first car" was a fun idea, the "challenge" itself was utterly mundane, especially when you compare it to the old trios jaunts in the desert in equally impractical cars and what they got up to. This seemed to be pretty much drive over some bumpy road, and that's that, end of episode.

Watched it now, they actually were pretty good for a first effort, better than top gear has been in a long time, don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of room for improvement but the show actually made me laugh, which is more than top gear has done in a while

I really enjoyed it. Thought the three of them were really funny and gelled. Look forward to more.

Always loved Top Gear, glad to see it working well even without Clarkson.

I’ve always loved TG, I’ll keep watching this series no doubt, but I’d have to say Fifth Gear is a better show overall, it still has humour but is far superior from a consumer perspective and I really appreciate that instead of too much dicking about and blowing smoke up each other’s jacksies.

A decent start for the new boys. Paddy and Freddy genuinely funny with Harris as the straight man could just work.

I know car identities isn't your thing but I'm sure the 488 Pista was up against the McLaren 720S.

Just watched this, some good some not, Harris and Flintoff ok but not taking to McGuinness, will try again with another episode and go from there, not quite usual TG but really haven't watched it much since Clarkson et al.

It seemed very fake to me "we're all buddies really" just don't notice the scripted banter.

Whole format seems old and tired.

    Wooden.

They keep trying to replicate the best years of the original - never going to happen.

CH in a car, no autocue or false 'chats' is great.

Doubt I will be following the new series TBH.

Well, I thought that was excellent- very funny, and the three have gelled perfectly.

It will be interesting to see if the critical response agrees with me.

I'm really liking it, despite not having an interest in E cars.

The shock bit with Paddy made me belly laugh.

I really liked it. Very enjoyable.
Even though the initial line up had me fearing the worst.

I liked it - nice piece on electric vehicles not just nonsense. And I had a laugh when they were buzzing each other around that test track! Much better than the last season!

    I think you do dare!

Clarkson trio were at their height in the middle of their tenure - the Toybota, Reliant Shuttle (supremly daft but impressive), Arctic Expedition etc.

But by the end the humour was very forced and the gags around Hammond and May very tired. The low point was the ambulances thing, that was just execrable.

This new crew are a revelation so far.

All TG presenters have looked clunky from the start (although I can't remember how Clarkson started out). It took a while for May, Hammond and Clarkson to click. I think Monkey and LeBlanc worked really well together but Reid just didn't slot in. The key seems to be not just making the programme silly at the planning stage but having the presenters to throw in unexpected schoolboy stuff like Flintoff's head butt on Monkey. I have to admit I've liked Paddy since his doorman days at the Phoenix Club, and from 'Take Me Out' he's become adept at presenting on the fly. Flintoff isn't so natural but adds something else and bearing in mind it's their second episode together they're doing an excellent job. Imagine a co-presenter head butting Evans. Actually, I'll just leave that there.

I read that Eddie Jordan isn't involved at all, which is great news, he really was awful. Sabine is still good but please not as the comedy German, popping up to challenge Monkey to a race...

The new team should get Abbie Eaton (the racing driver from the Grand Tour) involved.

She was excellent, obviously available for TV work now The Grand Tour has closed down, and very easy on the eye.

I watched episode 2 last night, did not expect much but it was funny and much better than expected. Feddie and Paddy work well together, will keep watching.

Agreed. Really enjoying Top Gear again.

watched episode 2 and found it not too nbad - the frsit one was quite good too.

A bit childish in parts - but hey - it's supposed to be fun - I just wish theyd do more reviews rather than the silly stuff - but it was waaaaaaay better than that bloke of Friends and Co

I've booked "series link" on my sky box recorder

The electric shock bit on Paddy had both my kids doubled up with laughter.

After my initial reservations on episode one; I have to confess it was blooming good. Again, the electric shocks were hilarious. TBH it's just good to have some car shows on TV.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ep2 last night. The electric shock part had me in stitches and I haven't laughed that hard in ages, particularly while watching TG.

FF was absolutely awful with his links - as he seems to be mainly, but at least they were taking the P out of him over it.

I think the fact that they actually aren't always extremely slick and polished makes them all the more appealing and relatable.

So far, they look like they are having a lot of fun, and that is infectious.

Enjoyed yesterday’s episode as did my son, my wife even watched it and she never ever does.

Any info on why FF didn’t react to the shocks, did he cheat?
