I was playing with my smallish selection of watches last night and my wife asked "which is your favourite?". Without hesitation I replied that I liked the Speedbird the best but that I liked to wear the PRS82 the most. Infact it has been worn just about continuously since the day it arrived when first released. It's not that I nanny the speedbird (or any other of the half dozen pieces) or fear wearing it for work, just that the PRS82 feels so right. It sort of belongs....The others get worn for a few hours but I always change back.
Anyway, just needed to get that off my chest or out of my head or something.......

I'm not sure there is an advantage as such, just that the first batch had new, old stock, movements that were iirc from the same period as the original navy issued watch. I'm sometimes guilty of listening to the tic as I lay in bed and the slower beat is very relaxing:)
Here's an old snap from when it was new..
I'll get an up to date shot tomorrow

Here you are. Five and a half years wear and tear.
The case has hardly any marks really though the original brushing has become polished. The crystal is perfect. That dink in the bezel happened a couple of weeks ago while I was swinging a big gate around in too small a space and the gouge on the insert was clumbsyness on my part trying to get a gearbox out of a unimog. The rest is just gentle abrasion from sweaters and such.
All in all I just love it
Lots of character in that watch. Congratulations on the baby!
It is, with a new bezel and insert it'd be like a new watch again but where's the fun in that. I'd have to take it off for potholing and such. Much better to enjoy it as is I think. Incidentally I wore the Speedbird continuously for 2 years and that has very few marks on the case...
Eddie makes excedingly tough watches:)
Strap wise I have a selection of natos, the one supplied with the watch is by far the best match. Would like to get another but I don't think he has any left.
What a fantastic looking watch. I'm waiting for Time factors to reopen and then I'm going to purchase one. It'll be an ideal holiday watch. Oh and I do have WTB should anyone be thinking of selling theirs!
It's a pleasure to see a watch worn well, even if it's not your favorite. What others do you have besides the Speedbird?
What are your sweaters made from, wire wool?Originally Posted by Dentsmithy
