    Love Island

Anyone else wasting an hour of their life watching orange people on the telly? It sucked me in last year and I'm going all in this year....

Watched it last year after all the hype to see if I was missing out. As expected it was utter shite. I must be missing something as I just don’t get the attraction of it apart from the scantily clad women obviously.

I can't not watch it - it's proper car crash tv and I'm addicted. This series is a bit different from previous years because while they're all still shallow, vacuous bell-ends as per normal, they somehow all seem to have a degree too.

Same here, which is a shame because Amy seems like the only genuine girl.

Me neither, it’s vacuous in the extreme. Just moronic “I like him/her” “he/she said” “ he’s/she’s a lying cheat” inanity.
If the contestants were farm animals they would be taken out back and shot.

I don't watch TV, well very occasionally, I come in from work, have dinner with my wife, talk for 2 or three hours, & then up the wooden steps to Bedfordshire. I don't have SKY, NetFlix, but do have a small bunch of lovely mates that I have a pint or two with after work, with loads of banter. So that's why I don't need anything in my life like banal reality TV, thank God it seems.

Watched some last season. Absolute car crash but somewhat enjoyed it. It is weird though seeing STIs be passed around on a daily basis.

Well Lucy would definitely keep me entertained for about 3 minutes. That includes taking my shoes off and putting them back on again.

Never seen it, never intend to, don’t watch any ‘reality’ tv shows. Too many vacuous people talking rubbish.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I'd sooner spend a nightshift at work, unpaid, than watch love island. My bl**dy paper has a page devoted to this tripe too.

Wife & daughter watch it, I would rather stick pins in both eyes..........

I watched the very first series of big brother which I found interesting as it was new and the contestants were unprepared for what really was a ‘reality’ show. Dipped in and out of a couple more series and just avoid them like the plague now. I haven’t even accidentally seen a single second of this series nor do I intend to. There’s already too much (decent) stuff I haven’t got time to watch without resorting to teenage aimed drivel!

    Couldn't think of anything worse.

Reality shows are incredibly cheap to make and appeal to the lowest common denominator. No wonder they are popular with TV companies.

Even my wife thinks Love Island is pony - and she likes soap operas!
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Here you go, all you need to know so you can be 'the man (or woman) with the plan' when sitting having a brew with fellow addicts in the Woolpack.

The whole program is an utter disgrace and an affront to any decent person. Truly society is going down the pan if ITV etc continue to broadcast dross like this.

So who else is hoping that Anton will get kicked out tonight and can Anna's bikini get any further up the crack of her huge arse?

Have you any idea how many soldiers have topped themselves as you call it?

But that doesn't seem to be a news story no inquiries, no investigations, no outrage.

I am regularly hearing of them and wives and family’s asking for help.

One old boy told us how the historical N.I. investigations had effected his mental health, added to that his son came back from serving abroad and killed himself last year.

What a burden he is carrying.

This is a bit heavy for a Love Island thread mate.

Anyway, looks like Anton is going down!

Contextually the reference was regarding the Jeremy Kyle show where one of the “guests” committed suicide and the show was taken off the air, yet two Love island contestants have done this and the show is continuing, it seems very inconsistent

Had the misfortune to catch a snip of this as the OH was watching it last night. Painful. Just painful. I am far from a master of erudition but that is the most base TV, below Jeremy Kyle IMHO.

Whilst my missus watched Love Island last night, I got through an episode and a half of Gardeners World. Tonight, I've used the same 90 minutes to watch the Guy Martin D-Day programme.

I'm not sure who comes off worse?

Agreed, strange how Big Brother had zero suicides though on a similar format.

Perhaps Big Brother was pre-social media, I am hazy on the timelines? The pressure to create a fake life in social media was certainly less or non-existent. Perhaps the shows have becme more manipulative too as they get 'better' at what they do to introduce conflict and drama.

I really detest Love Island which I acknowledge is irrational on my part.
