    Love Island

Anyone else wasting an hour of their life watching orange people on the telly? It sucked me in last year and I'm going all in this year....

Watched it last year after all the hype to see if I was missing out. As expected it was utter shite. I must be missing something as I just don’t get the attraction of it apart from the scantily clad women obviously.

I can't not watch it - it's proper car crash tv and I'm addicted. This series is a bit different from previous years because while they're all still shallow, vacuous bell-ends as per normal, they somehow all seem to have a degree too.

Watched some last season. Absolute car crash but somewhat enjoyed it. It is weird though seeing STIs be passed around on a daily basis.

Me neither, it’s vacuous in the extreme. Just moronic “I like him/her” “he/she said” “ he’s/she’s a lying cheat” inanity.
If the contestants were farm animals they would be taken out back and shot.

I don't watch TV, well very occasionally, I come in from work, have dinner with my wife, talk for 2 or three hours, & then up the wooden steps to Bedfordshire. I don't have SKY, NetFlix, but do have a small bunch of lovely mates that I have a pint or two with after work, with loads of banter. So that's why I don't need anything in my life like banal reality TV, thank God it seems.

talk for 2 or 3 hours to my wife?

I think if I tried that with mine she'd think I'd had a stroke

Well Lucy would definitely keep me entertained for about 3 minutes. That includes taking my shoes off and putting them back on again.

Tends to be more of a one-way conversation in our case. Usually containing a long list of my many and varied faults at some point.

Never seen it, never intend to, don’t watch any ‘reality’ tv shows. Too many vacuous people talking rubbish.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Yup, the celeb ones are even worse imo. Dancing and skating, the no hopers brought in for a laugh, who can barely walk let alone perform, the younger contenders, and the panel of judges - normally the good one, the nasty one, and the strange one! Cheap to make (relatively) programmes making a fortune. TV has hardly upped it's game, but then popularity is all, apparently.

I've never watched the one with Simon fat head in it or the one that's the same. Ditto big brother and the celebrity on an island.

I'd sooner spend a nightshift at work, unpaid, than watch love island. My bl**dy paper has a page devoted to this tripe too.

Got hooked last year and fell straight into it again last night. Absolute car crash and morally bankrupt but a definite guilty pleasure.

    That all sounds remarkably healthy

There’s nothing wrong with winding down with a bit of trash TV when you’ve been using your brain all day. It doesn’t have to all be Ted talks and documentaries about the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Still if angry wasps up your arse floats your boat, good luck with that. Lucie floats mine.

I've buckled, decided should always try everything once so set the DVR.

Lucie 3 mins... more like 30 seconds

  37. #37
I watched the very first series of big brother which I found interesting as it was new and the contestants were unprepared for what really was a ‘reality’ show. Dipped in and out of a couple more series and just avoid them like the plague now. I haven’t even accidentally seen a single second of this series nor do I intend to. There’s already too much (decent) stuff I haven’t got time to watch without resorting to teenage aimed drivel!

    Couldn't think of anything worse.

Reality shows are incredibly cheap to make and appeal to the lowest common denominator. No wonder they are popular with TV companies.

Even my wife thinks Love Island is pony - and she likes soap operas!

Here you go, all you need to know so you can be 'the man (or woman) with the plan' when sitting having a brew with fellow addicts in the Woolpack.

The whole program is an utter disgrace and an affront to any decent person. Truly society is going down the pan if ITV etc continue to broadcast dross like this.

So who else is hoping that Anton will get kicked out tonight and can Anna's bikini get any further up the crack of her huge arse?

Have you any idea how many soldiers have topped themselves as you call it?

But that doesn't seem to be a news story no inquiries, no investigations, no outrage.

I am regularly hearing of them and wives and family’s asking for help.

One old boy told us how the historical N.I. investigations had effected his mental health, added to that his son came back from serving abroad and killed himself last year.

What a burden he is carrying.

Had the misfortune to catch a snip of this as the OH was watching it last night. Painful. Just painful. I am far from a master of erudition but that is the most base TV, below Jeremy Kyle IMHO.
