PRS-82 (which movement would you go for?)

    Hi all,
Ive just joined after rediscovering my love of watches this last year.
I owned just 1 watch for years, an omega Seamaster but was worried about the cost of a service and repairs if it as ever to fail so sold it.
Im now thinking of a little collection of affordable, different watches and am really interested in the PRS-82 to start.
My question is, if you were buying now, would you try and find one of the first run of 500 with the 2783 movement, or buy new with the 2824?
My heart says find an earlier one, but the head says different!
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

I suppose it depends also if you want to factor in the cost of a service on top of the purchase price for a 1st generation.

Buy either. 2824 has higher beat rate, so smoother seconds sweep, also if new will come with full warranty.

Seconded. Just lovely to listen too. I've pretty much worn mine continuously since the day it was released (nearly six years now). It ran consistently +4 secs a day untill six months ago and now runs -2 or -3 since. It might be getting ready for a service now but can't complain as it leads a tough life at work.
