Poor man's Panerai - Suggestions please

I'm considering a Panerai Luminor in the future. To dip my toe in the water of that larger style of watch I'd like to try something similar.

Any suggestions of models to consider with a budget £300 to £500? I've looked at:

PRS-30 - Ideal but hens teeth second hand.

Lum tec - nice looking cases but the dial doesn't quick click for me.

Magrette - some lovely designs but not easily available in the UK.

UTS - Massive and way over budget.

Please let me know your thoughts (even if its just to bite the bullet and get a Pam 000 base logo)!

The Glycine Incusore has a bit of a Pam look to it.
I bet 2nd hand it’ll be within budget

If not stuck on a Luminor consider Eddies Prs 20 ,I preferred this to the ' real thing ' .

Stay with Eddie's would be my suggestion. I had a Base PAM and was really disappointed with it. Eddie's are lovely things for that price range

The problem is, you don't want a lookalike/homage... you want a PAM...

I've wanted a Radiomir forever, had a bunch of approximations that didn't measure up because they weren't Radiomirs... I think that Panerai styling is so unique in comparison to (and I'm not knocking Rolex at all) the template that is the Submariner and its cookie cutter homages or derivatives, that any alternative just doesn't cut it.

There's always those "Marina Militare" watches that straddle the homage/fake line somewhat uncomfortably. They're cheap.

Have a look at Getat. I havnt tried one myself but you can build a watch with your own specs.

How secure are the log bars on the 20?

No idea. I've not heard much about them recently.

As secure as any as long as you make sure they are screwed in right

I bought a sterile dial Parnis , as said dreadful homage but wanted to see how I would get on with a 44mm PAM as I have skinny wrists, its a nice thing for the £100 or so it cost me and runs within 5 seconds a day

I'll keep saving for the real thing and need to offload some of my collection to fund it but the model I want is around £6k so I have a way to go yet.

I thought this is a rather good looking homage.
Quality is obviously far from a Pam and not even the cheapest one.
But frankly I think it won’t cure the itch but remind you how much you want the real thing.

I've had a look at the direct homages and I've concluded I don't want an exact copy, rather a similar design.

Anonimo are over budget, UTS 500 is lovely but too big, PRS-30 are not appearing second hand and I've not come round to the Lum Tec dials.

    Any more suggestions out there?

It’s not going to help but I’d just save and get into the real thing .

When contemplating 44mm Panerai consider that Titanium is lighter than steel and is a good way to start with them. I had a 177 back in 2004. I now have a 219 which is steel as I do like a bit of heft as its not worn daily but much prefer the crown guard on the other side as its much comfier on the wrist. Good luck searching.
