Just picked up Tudor Sub 79090

This lovely Tudor Sub 79090 from 1996...full set, while on holiday in Devon. Given the disappointment following Tudor’s releases this year I think this was a bit of a no brainer. My first time wearing hollow links so it feels a bit lighter on the wrist than I’m used to, but it looks wonderful, and I’ve enjoyed wearing it the past couple of days. Will probably get more wrist time than my Explorer in the next few weeks, that’s for sure.

Sometimes the best purchases in this game are made by sheer chance, and I’m very happy I bumped into it in such an unexpected place!

That is lovely, did you pay a premium as they have gone up a lot over the last few years?

You’re right they’re not cheap these days, I have the original receipt from 1996...the guy paid £640 for it back then! Compared to what they’re going for currently I’d say I got a very good deal indeed. Put it this way, substantially less than what Watchfinder are selling it for.

Great watch , I recently picked up its smaller brother the 75090 , 36mm in black , it’s a real beauty although I wish I had the 40mm version like yours .

That’s a beauty! Enjoy! I’ve got the 14060m so for size diversity I’d probably look to pick up the Tudor in 36mm at some point.

    Very nice indeed.

If Tudor had released that or the snowflake that would have been me sorted for good. Can you imagine if they had, would have been a ‘bargain’ too.

    It’s a great watch.
Bracelet should have folded end links and folded links as well. Not hollow...
    Hope you enjoy it!

I found it in Barnstaple at a place called Century Jewellers. A good range of things in there, a new Ceramic Pepsi sitting in the window, the all black GMT as well, a few subs, a Speedy, and a Reverso. A nice range of things.

Honestly I didn’t go to North Devon with the aim of buying a watch, but when I saw this and had a chat with the owner, who really knew his stuff and was a very decent guy, the offer was good, and after a very short haggle, I decided to go for it.

I'd rather have that Tudor than its Rolex brother. Gorgeous

Stunning example, enjoy! (Probably the only one of the entire Tudor line up I actually fancy)

He has some nice stuff, good condition at good prices - I’m not far from Barnstaple, I posted up last year he had a new BLNR at a very good price but no one took up the offer of it,
I go past there most Thursdays and always look in but hadn’t seen that one so well done getting it.

I paid round about the same for mine new. So much better value than a Rolex Sub

Are the scratches on the crystal between eight and nine very deep?

My only regrets on selling are both Tudors - Hydronaut and big block chronograph.

    The Submariner is lovely.

No...very light, I barely noticed them till I zoomed in on the pic myself. Most of the time on the wrist you you can’t see them. Looks like a toothpaste job to me.

I was really impressed with his stock actually...such a good quality range of pieces both old and new, it was a bit Rolex heavy, but hey that’s where the market has tilted in the past two years, can’t blame him. I get the sense he gets very hard to find pieces in on a regular basis, and the prices are extremely competitive across the board. You folks in Devon clearly like your watches as he seems to be doing very well!

Phew. :) it’s like that in photos sometimes, things that look awful aren’t apparent when you’re wearing the watch.

Look superficial from the pic but very keen eye there on part of Sean.
