My view : +1
After the lukewarm reaction to the Omega 50th Anniversary Speedmaster, Heuer have just released the first of five monthly edition Monaco’s to celebrate the 50th and it is a shocker.
Head over to calibre11 for the info, they are only making 169 of each release, which is possibly 168 too many.
Guess its just a matter of taste, it's not the worst watch I've ever seen. Actually quite like it.
Lukewarm is your view of the Speedmaster. Lots of positive feedback as well.
What’s wrong with the Monaco ? If I’m looking at the right watch isn’t just a faithful representation of the Monaco?
The more and better images of it I see the more I’m drawn to it, but sure it wii sell out soI’ll need to see if any of the later models in the series attract me more, and are available.
Looks awful to me and i like Tags, just not square ones.
Looks like a homage to the original.
A square ugly (to some) duck. I do wonder if it wasn’t for the Le Mans film and Steve McQueen connection would we hanker over them so much?
God thats bad looks like the crimpolene trousers limited edition

Hideous colours but some nice details like the hand changes and dial finishing.
Also the 169 x 5 staggered release is a swine. If I’d managed to secure one of these and then the next one comes along in a month and I liked that better then I’d not be happy.

The dial looks like the fabric from our old 70s sofa.
I don't hate it, but I don't particularly like it either. That sofa was damn comfy though!
Yeah not for me at all this one..
This is likely to be a homage to the flaky paint on the first batches of brass dials.
I really hope the next four will be better
Some bad opinions in the thread here - that's a great looking Monaco. I wonder what they'll do for the 80s? Global Hypercolor theme?
Guess I’m in the minority here but I’d happily wear that.
I think the colour is inspired by the "paintless wonder" where an originally blue dialled Monaco has a defect in the paint that turns it a brown colour. Quite the collectable.

I’m not a great fan of the Monaco, but I think Tag have done a good job of getting a 70s vibe on this. I rather like it, certainly a lot more than the 70s themselves!!
Well done Tag
No. In period none of the drivers liked them, they all had Autavias. But then even without the McQueen connection it's aged into a really nice watch.
I have zero interest in this reissue, they're scrabbling around for new ideas. The grey one with orange highlights that came out a few years ago is the only decent new version they've made.
"A man of little significance"
Well mine one just arrived and I absolutely love it.
The dial is fairly dark so most the time just looks like a dark dial. But bit of sun or light and the stripes set off and you get the hint of green. They did a great job to create something a little different, another McQueen blue watch just wouldn’t be enough, but I see some differ. The next few editions from bad leaked pics look interesting. I think the next one is red.
Quick and dirty pics

That actually looks quite cool. Particularly compared to the earlier pics. Well done👍
beat me to it, Was about to post some better pics showing it was in fact green and does look better in the flesh, I might think about the red* version if it turns out better on the wrist than the leaked pics out there.
* or the grey.
Have to agree on the comment from Foxy, Tag are just scrabbling around with these Anniversary releases and trying to generate interest with their low production numbers and some faux decade retro appeal.
In my view if these releases were on general AD availability they would be in the sale corner at 50% off within a year. If a watch dial only looks good in a certain light or angle then it is a design fail and this Green/ Brown release is no fitting Anniversary for one of watches iconic pieces.
The Monaco is all about the Blue dial, the grey dial model for something a little different and the all black model to lust after. These Anniversary issues are just a cheap cash grab from Tag because they know that the Blue McQueen model cannot be bettered and they are a victim of their own making by pushing this connection that everyone always associates the Monaco with the Mcqueen Blue.
