Looks like a Purple Dead Nettle to me. Could be wrong though.
... and I do not know what it is.
I know it is not lavander, which I have a few yards away.
Anybody can recognise it?
Thanks
Franco

A friend here at work told me it should be catmint (Nepeta mussinii). I am a total ignramus on plants
Edit: guess he may be iright:

I think it is the Giant Stinkhorn.

There is a chance I could be wrong though, as plant identification isn't my strong suit.
So clever my foot fell off.
It's a weed - kill it with fire.
Japanese knotweed in camouflage.
Looks like low catmint. It's a bee plant, flowers for months and produces a lot of nectar. Yummie for bees. So certainly don't destroy it, bees have it too difficult as it is already thanks to the Monsantos of this world, they can use any help you can give them. It's not a weed either, people sell it for fair money:

Sorry - I was being curt... I detest gardening and would rather our garden was just lawn rather than the hundreds of quid's worth of 'flowers' that SWMBO feels the need to kill by forgetting to water them 2 weeks after planting them each spring/summer.
I have left an area at the end of the garden to do what it wants, and we have lots of bees, wildlife (and the plants above) as a result.

I was afraid that you would show us the Fallopia japonica (I don't know its name in English). Very invasive plant that's as stubborn as can be. Search on the internet for this monster.

I read somewhere the police will come and check it for you.
Apparently some lads had some plants growing in their cellar and the police popped round for a chat, they took the plants and the lads away to discuss it at greater length.
The lads now have time to read up on most things horticultural......
