Thread: Flower Identification Please.

    Flower Identification Please.

Did anyone know what this flower is please? I think it's wild, at least I didn't plant it. But it's sprung up in a shady spot under a hedge in the garden.

There are plant/flower apps available for mobile phones to help with ID. No idea how good they are though.

Looks like a geranium to me, but difficult to tell with that shot.

If you can take another image zoomed out a bit so we can see it in context, it might help.

Looks rather like a wild orchid of some sort although those leaves are baffling.
    Cheers,

Any chance it is one of these...link to four o'clocks?

I'm asking rather than suggesting as my botanical knowledge is zero.

Yep. Those are the leaves of the plant. They join the flower stem near (but not at) the base of the plant. Will get a zoomed out picture later.

Photo showing leaves. I'm veering towards some kind of Campion.
Scrub that. It definitely closely resembles that Big Root Geranium. I think that's got to be the winner.

    As I suspected, geranium

I agree, as already suggested some kind of geranium. For example: -

    Geranium macrorrhizum 'Album'

    Geranium x cantabrigiense 'Biokovo'

Keep an eye on it, those geraniums can be very invasive.
