IIRC we use Unicorn Transfers or something like that. No affiliation to them whatsoever.

I used http://247airporttransfer.com/ before and they were fine. Again no affiliation. We needed a 7 seater with decent storage, if it was just a few of you then I'd probably just get an uber.

Uber to St Pancras, train to Luton Parkway.
Train from Luton Parkway to St Pancras, Uber to Russell Square.

Not exactly what you asked but a quick solution. ;-)

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Indeed the most convenient, and this even when I am leaving from London (instead of Ashford).

Unfortunately Luton is my ‘local’ airport so I end up using it quite a lot. At the moment the place is pretty chaotic; loads of building and road works. The car drop off zone is a good five minute walk away from the terminal (make that at least 10 minutes with kids and cases) and at peak times it is horrendously busy. Whoever designed that monstrosity needs sacking. But anyway.

I would seriously consider the train / tube even with kids, it’s a very easy and quick journey and the bus at the Luton end drops you directly outside the terminal. Much less hassle IMO.

Daft as it might sound , have you asked any of the high end hotels in the London area of the availability of their cars?
Recently used the Rosewoods car to go the opposite way and talked to the driver who told me they did the trip on a number of occasions .
Most of the hotels have this facility but I’d imagine it would be underused .
No idea if this is feasible but it’s an awful waste of returning cars if not .
