Great looking watch which has been highly anticipated and well reviewed but I thought they had all sold out?
For all those wanting GMT master inspired bit of fun by Timex check out this , quite cheerful if I say so for the price (£160)and nostalgia. Great for a youngster or teen getting involved into retro cool diver's style. Those on Instagram may have seen pictures already .

Let the madness begin

I saw the Hodinkee article on Thursday and went straight to the UK Timex website to buy one (with a 10% discount no less). It looks a fantastic watch but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that it's not a good idea. I have enough cheap and cheerful quartz watches to keep me satisfied and if you aren't careful, £150 here and there soon mounts up and before you know it, you've spent as much as that quality mechanical piece you've been lusting over for ages. I decided to put the money I would have spent in a separate account and will be adding to it every time I see something 'cheap and cheerful that I would like to buy. Lets see how long it takes me to get enough money to buy a Nomos Orion 309.
Sorry, but it looks what it is..............A Naf cheap battery watch.
It isn't even a GMT.

looks great :D
I don’t really understand the pricing (although if sold out they must know what they’re doing, right?)
If you want a cheap name-brand “diver”, something like this sekonda is closer to the mark (in the present for teenager category)

What's the point of the Pepsi bezel, or rather day / night bezel when it's only marked for 12 hours?
No doubt absolutely fine for £25, but the domed acrylic crystal, faux aged lume and the battery hatch give the Timex a certain charm that's sorely lacking in the Sekonda.
I'm guessing the original Timex had a sweep second hand? I have an early quartz Timex myself with a similar battery hatch arrangement. Not brilliantly accurate but nice to have.
Hodinkee hype is the sure-fire way to sell out a watch these days. Dont get it at all in this instance, looks kinda like that Moser mock up GMT from last year
