Good afternoon all,
I thought i would share a new purchase that hasn't been on my shopping list, but i saw at what i thought for a 'good price' at £6.5k - for a 5-digit acrylic vintage sports Rolex! While i know this is still crazy money, particularly versus just a few years ago, I think the 16753 is under-appreciated - particularly as it mainly associated with the polarizing 'Root Beer'. A little later in the life of the reference (which includes quick-set date - handy when you're not wearing it daily), Rolex switched from 'nipple' markers to 'maxi' markers, from brown to black dials and from Root Beer to black inserts, and in this configuration, with creamy lume, gilt lettering, on a jubilee rather than an oyster i think makes it a really elegant piece.

I'm not sure where else you can get a plexi-glass sports Rolex model for this sort of dosh, but I'll happily be corrected!

Its a fun watch and feels like something to take on a summer holiday to Sardinia or somewhere similar.
