    Passing my AD today

Walking past my AD today on the way to a meeting and thought I’d just pop in to say hello as not been in for a while.

Thought I’d also enquire if any chance of getting a Red Sea Dweller for my 50th birthday next year.

Imagine my surprise when he says we’ve got one coming in today, would I like it?

The rest you can guess and now the wife is wondering what she can get me for my half century instead!

This will be my 5th Rolex in 25 years, all from the same AD so I guess loyalty does count for something after all....

    Wow!
    Congratulation.
Always good to read such happy story.
These things tend to happen when you least expect.
    Enjoy your new watch.

    Regards,

GS, I got my first watch from them when they were near the market place and one member of staff is still there.

The guy I tend to deal with is genuinely passionate about the brands and it’s always a pleasure dealing with him.

As you say, very lucky indeed and I really appreciate how fortunate it was.

Nice one! Well done and congrats on your 50th. I'm 50 in June and hoping for one of the anniversary Omega speedmasters. Time will tell!

Thank you, I’m not actually 50 until August 2020 but anticipated it would take a little longer than 3 hours to source this watch! Good luck with your search and have a very happy birthday.

I know we all like a good pic and the following are nothing like good pics but please indulge me one last time as I’m still on the ceiling with this purchase! I normally wait well over a year for a watch so this just feels so strange.

I hope you bought a lottery ticket! It must be your lucky day. I bought my blnr by just popping in for a chat.

That's exactly what happened to me last week, albeit with a DJ 41, not a SD! Great feeling! Enjoy it and happy birthday!

To be fair I have had my name down with my AD for a number of Rolex since 2017 so maybe I was due this bit of luck.

More than anything though I think it demonstrates that, if possible building up a relationship is worth while. My wife and I have literally got everything from our engagement rings to an efternity ring last year, as well as a number of watches from the same AD.

There was one of these in the window of Garrard in New Bond St the other week as they don't take lists. Wasn't there yesterday unsurprisingly.

Also that Rolex Boutique on the same road is handy for harder to find stuff (not impossible stuff) as they frequently have Milgauss, ND Sub, Explorer 1 and 2 in the window. No GMT, Skydweller or Daytona. Just have to be right time right place.

I've just had a call from my Rolex AD offering me the new 'Batman' GMT from Basel 2019. I was on the list for the 2018 Pepsi but that hasn't arrived and they want 'to look after customers who have missed out with something special'. It's the first one they have had but they are expecting one more shortly. I'll be picking this up next week. Happy days!

Stupid question maybe but I thought they didn’t have a cyclops or is that earlier models?

Congrats, sounds like they were waiting for the right buyer... unless you are exceedingly handsome.

Nice one. From personal experience, I'm surprised that 5 watches in 25 years gets you access (in these crazy times) to such a nice sought after model (depending on what else you have had from them, of course). I still feel like I am dealt with on sufferance despite my purchase history!

    Hope you enjoy the SD!

EDIT: Just saw your later post re buying jewellery. I'm sure that helped your cause!

I passed my AD today and was told they've closed the list for the 166600 I want. At least someone has had better luck - congrats; I can only imagine how exciting that must have been!
