TGV - Urban Gentry moves to Watchbox

Well I did not see this coming! Wondering what this means for Tim Mosso? Also interest to see the impact of this on The urban gentry audience as he typically talks about more affordable pieces which is not aligned with what Watchbox sells... what do you think?

Rather surprised by this; there’s a pretty large gap in quality and knowledge between Tim Mosso and TGV. One is a true expert, the other full of hot air. But presumably Govberg (Watchbox) are intent on growth, and the Urban Gentry probably brings a young audience. That’s what they are buying...his audience.
TGV seems full of himself talking about his ‘partnership’....but he will learn. Look what happened to Frederico.

Archie has been saying that tgv talks and sells shitters while buying Rolexes for himself... let's see where this goes. Bring the popcorn. We are living in desperate times.

To be fair to TGV, he dedicated a whole video to explaining his background and accent. Bit of money / 'breeding' on the mother's side (perhaps a couple of generations back), Italian father and went to school in a sarf Lahndun. Now living in the US and married to an American.

He aims for Professor Higgins but can't quite eliminate the inner Del Boy and a mangled transatlantic vowel is sprinkled on top from time to time for good measure. Again, to be fair to TGV, he's the first to admit this. I can't speak for his personal dealings but I don't think he's quite the snob people seem to think.

I like watch box and Tim as stated above he really knows his stuff. It feels like watch box are hoping to buy TGV’s subscribers. I can’t watch TGV. I find him very awkward to watch.

I guess if you like B&J you'll probably like TGV. I can't watch either personally.

That’s like comparing a village football team with Manchester City. Guys like B and J and TGV often know less than their viewers.
Have a look at Tim Mosso on ‘Watchbox’; you’l see serious , in depth, knowledge. The difference is startling.

A little bit surprised by this partnership. tgv has a bad reputation. Watched his channel for his views on seiko and in the 10 minutes he spent 7 talking about nothing to do with his title headline. Decided not for me.Watched his new clip for Watchbox - guy does not look well.He apparently does suffer from health issues.Time will tell.

I have just spent the last hour viewing watchbox on YouTube and I was impressed by the detailed knowledge contained within. For some reason I have missed out on watchbox so have a few hours of viewing ahead of me.

I have to say that TGV is a bit of an unlikely partner.

I think Watch Box have found a very creative way to buy YouTube subscribers.

Unless he's wearing his Batman mask (one wonders why?). Otherwise at least he's entertaining. TGV is just waffle and makes my skin crawl.

    Nick's a gem ;)

The batman mask is to protect his privacy / identity when reviewing shiny things, and in order to maintain a work -v- private life boundary. His watch journey has been interesting to see, as he started off as a quartz snob but has eventually been subsumed into the joys of mechanicals. Additionally he has more integrity and authenticity in his pinky finger than that Urban Gentry t**t has in his whole being.

That is a surprising move. And it's put me right off. It'll be interesting to see how he behaves on there, but his current manner is...off-putting.

I'm just waiting for his PRS 25 Vs PRS 25 36 mm review which he told me personally via message on YouTube that he is waiting for a 36mm. I suppose it's good publicity for the brand either way. Hope he doesn't start slating it neither

TGV has a Smith's astral he's aquired and reviewed on his latest video. He gives a mention to Smith's post 1979 brand of timefactors 'fame' nod nod with some screengrabs of our hosts site and made a point of saying he is waiting for the 36mm Everest to review. Wonder what he will make of it? Regardless of his polarising reviewing style I think it's a good thing he's raising awareness of the brand.
