    New incoming - TT SD43

Hello TZ, my first incoming on your site. I normally post on the rolexforums but looking to get involved with a more local community too since I am a Uk based watch collector / addict! I know this is not a watch for everyone but I was excited by the idea of a big diver featuring gold (after being appalled at first like many of us, I quickly came around) and when I was called in to view it, I just knew it was a must have watch.

This one just hit the sweet spot for me. My personal highlight is the satin finished dial with the gold sea-dweller text, it is a little retro almost and that balances really well against the classic two tone metal combination. The oversized bezel in gold is fantastic and a bit over the top but a lot of fun. This is not the watch for whoever wants to be ‘under the radar’ it screams Rolex and is big on the wrist. It has a lot of presence! The design is extremely cohesive and I was thoroughly impressed by Rolex’s implementation of the design, a very well executed watch.

Here are some photos I took earlier today, also some comparisons vs a sub and a Daytona to show the size.

That looks stunning congratulations I've never seen one of those before.
Think I prefer that to the normal SD43, great choice.

    Never seen one before!
    I’ll personally stick with my”standard”SD43
But very nice nevertheless- size suits me perfectly
I don’t expect to see many of these around, enjoy it!

Again, that is the first I have heard of them. It appears to work quite well!

Thanks chaps, it is from the 2019 Basel releases. It was the first one the AD chain I go to had received, so I think this will have been ‘launch stock’.

Looks like it wears a lot smaller to the SS version doesn't it? Very nice.

I too like the look of that, it definitely has a ‘presence’ on the wrist!
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Looking down on it on the wrist (as per the photos) I could see that it possibly does wear a bit smaller than the SS, as the gold on the bezel blends more with the black than the steel does. The satin dial and gold font also match with the gold bezel and this means the design and colours used are very harmonious for a smooth look, whereas the SS variant has more contrast - the red text and black on steel really pop, this potentially giving that bigger on the wrist look. But I couldn’t say for sure without having both in front of me.

However the TT bracelet does mean that the TT SD43 will be the one that stands out more on the wrist, especially when seen by other people side on.

Very nice. I happen to think when TT is nicely done, it can look great as here. I think pink/rose gold would look even better.

Thanks, you are right TT has to be done right - the designers need to get it spot on or it just looks too busy. Yes a lot of people are fans of pink gold and it has been a great success on the GMT. However I personally don’t suit pink gold so well due to already having quite pink skin lol! Also I think that this watch needed the yellow gold to have the slightly classic / vintage vibe that I think works so well, but would surely be interesting to see a RG one.

All good points, I just think my SS SD43 looked huge compared to my Daytona as opposed to your photo

Rolex executed that beautifully. A perfect match with your Daytona too.

Horses for courses but I don’t like it, sorry. A derivative of a classic no one asked for.

I would like to get to try one on then make a judgement. I love my 126600, but I think this will be a binary piece.

Pretty cool, one of the better bits from Rolex in 2019.

How is the gold type on the bezel in reality? Id imagine it looks quite overbearing in pics (like the BB58) but in real life is a bit more subtle (like the BB58)?..

    Congrats OP.

I know it’s not traditional, but new traditions have to start somewhere!

Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh.

Yes exactly right, for some reason bezel text always looks far brighter in photos than in reality. In person you do not even notice this issue! Must be the contrast with the bezel being enhanced by the camera I presume?

Looks great Martyn! Have never seen a CHNR off the bracelet, very cool.... Do I dare consider adding another TT?
