It's a dummy watch no movement, it was at the IVY from 7-10pm

    Tried on a few others.

The 42mm WG YM was nicer than I thought and makes a real statement but I have the RG one so no real point in having both.

The BLNR on a jubilee was nice than I thought

I really didn't like the new Meteorite GMT nor the TT SD.

Its a fake onyx I am sure a real onyx would fracture too easily.

The Ivy is insane, we were in the Asia room, if you're doing up a house or in to interior design the detail in there is incredible.

Its a LOT more in your face than the 40mm RG model, so much so I would be a bit self conscious wearing it.

Is it just the size, or any other design differences that make it stick out more?

Mostly the size but the white gold seems to catch the light more and make it more noticeable. Believe it or not I think the 116655 in RG is somewhat understated.

May also have been the lighting at the event if it was particularly strong?

I have thought about getting a 116655, and may yet still be my next purchase. Compared one with a RG Daytona and RG Skydweller a whole back and ended up going for the Skydweller, but that has now gone. Of the three, the yachtmaster was definite the most reserved

The lighting was very poor. I was used to my RG (which I was wearing) and putting this on was just like whoa... Nicer than I thought but a bit to OTT.

The WG Pepsi GMT was gorgeous.

    126719BLRO with the blue dial

Was chatting to the local AD; he reckons the ‘hot’ watch is still the 116509.....that’s the absurd power of John Meyer for you. Since he singled it out, the lemmings have been out in force.
Of course, i sold mine; always seem to get it wrong.
I do like the Yachtmaster 42mm, which is why I was talking to the AD. But that’s another story. Getting what you want from Rolex can be like clambering around an assault course.
Fortunately, I’m immune to the charms of the GMTs. Visually just too much for me.

That’s the plan, provided it hits the sweet spot.

For me I’m certain it would! Just out of interest what was on your wrist when you’ve gone to collect it??

Not seeing it until next week. Probably a 1991 16700 for a bit of contrast!

Thanks Lee. I have every intention. It is just so wearable - not too hefty and, for what it is, reasonably discreet. I would be very happy with this, the 16700 and my daily Explorer as the final collection, everything else to go as and when I got round to it.

Looking for ward to our next meet then Simon and if I did have an end game watch it would be WG Daytona but I could be persuaded
