My own XII. I've just realised that I've had it for 21 years now.

My old 3521 Inge, sold a few years ago

And the one I've replaced it with

Thanks. I've had one previously this one is here to stay. Usually wear it on average one day a week. Universally popular and originates from a time when IWC made beautiful and elegant watches. Amazingly comfortable on the new deployant strap with one very short length so the single fold deployant sits centrally.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about this one; another one I no longer have, sadly.

This was a limited edition white dial XV commissioned by the German jewellers Gadebusch, also known as the Gadebusch Uhr. Mine was 42/50. Pictured here on the day I received it in '99.

It’s the pure simplicity of my tribute that I like.
I wish they did a manual no date as well.

Loved this Ingenieur 3227 but sadly it had to go as it was too chunky for my wrist:

Currently own this Mark XVIII Le Petit Prince. Picture doesn’t do justice to the beautiful blue dial as it is from when the watch was still wrapped in plastic before purchase:

Less is more. It looks good because it's 36mm, not despite being 36mm.

With bigger dials, the date window tends to migrate too far towards the centre of the dial, evident also on the recent larger Rolex Sea Dwellers btw. The movement isn't large enough for the case. The proportions become distorted.

I miss my pilot chrono. Have been thinking about a mark xv or earlier for some time. Keep missing them when they pop up here.

    Also love their early ingenieurs.

Nothing much in their current collection appeals though.

Had one and loved it. Ultimatet though I sold it as I felt it was a fundamentally flawed design as it was simply too thick to wear comfortably day to day.

Had they made this a manual wind (and let's face it who needs an Auto with an 8 day reserve?) and left out the auto bits, this would have slimmed the movement down a few mm and been damn near a perfect watch.

They did that years later with the portofino but ultimately ruined it by making it 45mm. Stupidity.

It is really not that thick at just under 14mm; I find it comfortable to wear and it fits under my cuffs.

    IWC Appreciation

    My three:

2017 Annual Calendar which my parents bought me after I had completed my Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy

I have replaced the black strap on the annual calendar with a brown one which I think looks much better.

2019 Le Petit Prince Pilot I bought to commemorate the birth of my daughter.

And my under the radar Portofino which I have had since 2005

Beautiful stiching and padding; watch itself is 42mm diameter - it's thin enough to just about fit under a shirt cuff, made of titanium so nice and light.

I'm a big fan of IWC, although the current offerings leave me somewhat cold. I've got 5 IWC's currently

First up is my Mark 1 Big Pilot ref. 5002.

    Next IWC Mark XII

Which is a homage to the IWC Mark XI, calibre 89. This one from 1948

WWW IWC calibre 83, aka Mark X, one of the Dirty Dozen. All of the WWW's are from 1945

Finally a substantial piece of metal, the 3227-01 Ingenieur

Man there are some sexy watches in this thread... i know at some point there is an IWC in my future. Design-wise, I am not actually sure there is a company that is better.

One of the last ‘decent’ Ingeneiurs - my AMG chrono version. Still wear this as part of my standard rotation watches.

by size I meant the strap,I was wondering what it might look like on my watch which is 20mm.

You pipped me to the post on this one, it’s lovely. After Dave said it was sold I showed it to the gf for her usual dismissive commentary to tell me I didn’t want it anyway, only for her to say how much she liked it... typical!

I don’t blame you. This reissue seems to get a lot of flack in military watch circles but I just love it!
