    Phillips Auction

Some eye watering prices there if you have not seen it already.

I was in London at the weekend and picked up the catalogue. Some nice pieces but as mentioned, the valuations seem designed to gain interest.

The estimates are always a bit low, but what was shocking was the prices being paid for rather ordinary watches. 25k for a Rail Dial 16550 for example!

But most amazing of all was 71k for the 1960's Blancpain MiL-Spec. Staggering considering it wasn't that long ago when these were around the 15-18k mark.

It does make you wonder who are buying them! Drug lords?

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

I'm a big fan of these

And interesting that this one hasn't been to Rolex for a service estimate to give some proof of authenticity
