    Repairs

Hi.... I've got three watches needing repair. None of them have any serious financial value but two have sentimental value and the third one I just like...

Firstly a Ladies Seiko 5 bought for my wife by the children. It winds, the day/ date function works OK but it gains about 30 minutes a day. I am hoping it just needs a service,

Second a Chinese Alpha 36mm explorer Lookey-likely. Not a fake pretending to be a genuine original - It is clearly branded as Alpha. This was a present to me from the children and now suffers from the usual winder problems that cheap Chinese. Watches seem to suffer from.

Third a Parnis styled like one of the bulkier MM models but clearly branded Parnis. Another watch that has winder problems.

Now to my point.... Given that the financial value is low I don't want to trot round to the local jeweller and have him do a half-assed job for major money. Can anyone recommend someone who would do a decent job of these repairs on a budget?

And finally...... yes, I know full well that our host is in business selling and repairing watches and clocks but last I heard was that he is very busy and I doubt that this is the sort of job he would want to take on hence this post.

    All the best
    Rob

Certainly for the Seiko 5 service, try this old family firm. I would ask first about the Chinese movements. I wouldn't be surprised if acquiring replacement movements from eBay and then asking them to fit them for you would be cheaper, but that's just me guessing

Thanks for that, DerAmf. I've sent them an email.

    Cheers
