Had some fun with a friend who just got himself a GMTIIc. Of course, I couldn’t resist comparing dials with my earlier model.
Below are two GMTiic watches. The first is from 2019 and the second is from 2009.
So how did the first ever ceramic Rolex revolve in 10 years?
Unsurprisingly, Rolex evolution doesn’t seem to follow Darwin’s rules (nor God’s for that matter, otherwise my prayers for Basel 2019 would surely have been answered) and things have evolved very, very slowly.
Key differences that I’ve noticed in the 2019 model, are:
- Fatter and shorter font for “Rolex wording”
- Shorter spacing for the “Oyster Perpetual Date” wording
- Shorter spacing for the “Superlative Chronometer”
- Shorter spacing for the “Officially Certified” wording
