    Mitchell Timepieces

Hi, I know this is a pretty big longshot (so have posted this on other forums as well) but does anyone know much about Mitchell Timepieces – and better still has anyone got one of their watches?

Their web address is here http://https://mitchelltimepieces.com

And I saw this video of one of their watches here

It seems to be a very small brand that has been set up by a USAF veteran – which personally I find adds to the interest of the watches themselves.

The watch in the video seems to have a dial chapter ring made from the skin of a Hercules C130 Transport Plane – which I think is rather cool. But, whilst I think it’s a great watch sadly I’ve always found skeleton dials a tad frustrating.

However, there’s a couple more that they’re bringing out, one with a nod to the A10 Warthog, and another with a nod to the B2 Stealth Bomber and I’m very tempted to get one of those.

Before I do I’d be keen to hear from anyone with experience in both owning one of their watches, and ordering from them.

Also, they’re in America whilst I’m in the UK, has anyone had any experience about importing from America to the UK such as custom charges and other taxes?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Just had a look on the website, they do look interesting with the B2 my preferred option being 40mm, would be nice if they made it a GMT.

Mitchell was a french brand in the 60's/70's i think. They made dive watches as far as i know.

    This doesn't look related.

HI - no, I think this one is less than a year old - but I didn't know about the old company so now you've made me want to do some research 🙂

    Cool I am Mitchell Timepieces

    Hello,

I am US based. I am an Airforce Vet and I strive to creative unique timepieces inspired by aviation as well as pilot style watches. The project I just finished is the Hercules Project is utilizes aluminum from skin of a retired C130 for the dial disk. The Certificate is also make from part of the airframe.

The B2 Military time is going to be available very soon.

I noticed someone said they would like to see a GMT. I am considering a 24 hour model B2 and have designed the dial for it. Not sure it would be a true GMT though more of a 24 hour but thats up for grabs. Feel free to ask any questions for contact me directly

I have actually designed a dial for B2 GMT and have one case for a sample so we shall see.

Welcome to the forum, as you are the designer/maker post up some images of ideas you have and I’m sure you will get honest feedback which may help your designs.

As I mentioned a GMT function would be good for a watch inspired by a long range bomber like the B2, getting the handset to work well with the dial is important but I guess that’s where feedback helps.

Also have you thought about a NATO or canvass style strap? The dial you have looks like it would work well with these type of straps and give a real military feel.

Anyway all the best with your company and I look forward to seeing the B2 finished.

Wow - great of you to come on this forum Seadweller80.

Like others have said it would be great to see some of your ideas - also it would be interesting (merely because I'm being nosey) as to how the Hercules came about - and how its design evolved.

    🙂

I have no connection to the French brand nor was I aware of it. :) The story is on my website for the name. I just posted some pics of the B 2 that will be soon to release. I am also working on a watch that utilizes a ETA 6498. Is there a way to post pics on here?

I find the easiest way of posting Photo's is using TapTalk

Just remember to use the Picture attachment (the one with the logo of the mountain) rather than the 'normal' attachment (the paper clip) then it works fine

If you use TapTalk (the app which you’re u can get for phones or tablets) it’s a hell of a lot easier and you don’t need small files.

Here’s a photo of your B2 I pinched from your website

Odd - your Photo’s are showing (low res) in TapTalk but not on Computer browser.

I believe this is a larger version of what you wanted to post

Likewise, larger version of Grey v Black Dials.

I prefer the Grey-Blue - it’s an unusual colour and makes the watch stand out from the rest of the crowd

Odd, for some reasons your photos aren’t working. Here’s the ones I’ve just copied from your Facebook page

    Nice detail.

Love the Seconds hand - looks like it’s some kind of air to air missile.

Although it’s difficult to tell from the angle I’m not so sure if the Minute Hand could do with being a tad longer?

Also, although the Minute and Hour hand would look great on a black dial version - I’m not so sure is the black lower half suits the grey dial - perhaps a all white or white and silver hand would be better?

Mind you that’s just my opinion and hopefully other forum members will provide some feedback too?

Overall though I think this is looking pretty good
