iPads work fine with the Apple wireless keyboard (and may work with other Bluetooth ones, not sure). Sounds like a second-hand magic keyboard off eBay is what you need..

Hi all
I find myself using my iPad (2018 generation 6+) a lot more than anticipated. As such I could do with a keyboard, but don’t want to spend a lot (£30 or under ideally?)
It’s maybe getting an hour or two a week usage to complete a novel.
Anybody got any suggestions?

I sit at my desk and use this,

Logitech K780 it has a slot to stand an iPad in and can be linked to three devices, I sit at my desk with iPad and iPhone in the slot then use it to type on both and my desktop pc. You just push function button 1, 2 or 3 to select device.
My only complaint is I can’t find the € button!

This is what you need. I didn't buy as it wasn't out for the version of iPad I have so I bought the apple version but this is infinitely better and backlit. Don't worry about it being Bluetooth and needing charge. Charge lasts for months anyway.
I had a Logitech keyboard for my old iPad 4 and it was the best one going.
