    First Panerai ideas

So I’d like to buy a Panerai , my initial reservations are , I tried a friends on in the past and at 46mm it was hideous on my 6” wrists . So I reckon 40-42mm is perfect but I might be able to pull off a 44mm as I think 44mm is Panerais perfect size

I’ve always had steel bracelets as I struggle to pull off leather or rubber straps , I hate the overhang you see at the top of the watch ( a problem with long straps and small wrists )

Finally I love the lever-operated, crown-protecting bridge , so would prefer a Luminor range watch .

Unlike the Rolex range I’m finding it hard to navigate my way around the Panerai range as it’s so vast and would like to buy something that won’t massively depreciate in case I fancy changing it for another model at some point if I don’t bond with it

For a watch with dive watch heritage the 40mm having 3atm of wr was very disappointing to me when I looked into them. Having said that I am continuing to look into them as the brand interests me.

    Google image search your criteria
Make sure it matches your criteria
    Remember reference number
    Try it and/or buy it

You probably need to narrow it down
    Mechanical
    Auto
    Gmt
    Painted dial or sandwich
    Sub dials
Once you have an idea then you can maybe start looking at models that suit.

There is no 46mm Panerai if I am not mistaken.
Probably was 47. As suggested before narrow your search criteria and make sure to try it on for size before deciding.

You might be right , it was either 46 or 47 , but too big for me . Like a clock on my wrist

The 590 currently on SC looks like a good proposition, I have no connection to the seller but do own one. 44mm 8 day movement and it sits really well on wrist due to flat case back and chamfered lugs.

Tried on a 722 last year. It was NOS in a non panerai AD and well discounted. Very nice watch but a little small for me. Good choice in light of your criteria.

That was about as bad as it gets... until we see the next fiasco from Panerai. They clearly have no idea about anything to do with watches.

This is a 40mm with 30 bar water resistance

    https://www.panerai.com/lu/en/collec...or---40mm.html

Panerai Due watches are a different kettle of fish, a Panerai dress watch ( whatever that means). It has a thickness of 10.5 mm but comes at a cost of less water resistance.
I think it is quite a designing feat in preserving their trademark crown protection system in such a low profile- hardly a fiasco. But guess some will just see what they want to see.

Why are people perpetually scornful about being given a choice? You want 300m or 100m WR, Panerai have things for you; you only need dress watch WR, and would rather not have unnecessary heft, Panerai also have something for you. Outrage!
