Thread: Weekend with the Twins (now updated)

Weekend with the Twins (now updated)

Finally found a hosting site that works :)

I’ve posted a few of my multiples in the past but I now have most of them back in the same country, so apart from the Omega Seamaster 2220’s and 2254/2264 here are most of the twins, the majority identical and a few non-identical (I know I’m compulsive/obsessive mad/ill/sick - weekend drinking seeing double, or whatever else terms you want to apply):

If this was in the Boys room I would be paying it more attention.

Wow, you have double the number of pairs of twins than I have watches. I must change that

Will we ever get a full sotc? I remember a foray sometime last year not long after I joined, which made quite an impression.

+1. However - this shows obsessive compulsive behaviour at its best!

Please explain the ‘why’ logic !
Are the rest of us really missing out here by not having pairs (of watches at least 😀)??

  11. #11
Well played sir, that is admirable...

I just showed my wife and for the first time in the 33 years I have known her, she was speechless, Thank You ;)

Quite the set! I find this fascinating... do you have any watches that aren’t paired?

I have no particular logic to it, I just like to have a like new example, or different bracelet/strap option for my favourite watches - I accept that’s a strange stance compared to most.

    Yep.

It starts with you sending one of each twin pair to me as a commission. Then I will tell you where to go.

I don’t mean duplicates, just pairs. You’ve certainly presented the ones here as such, and they certainly do work as pairs 😁

Genuinely found it really very interesting, that was the only reason for the question... whether you look for a watch that potentially pairs up with another?

No, sorry, I meant most of the watches I own aren’t included above, and aren’t pairs or paired. I don’t look to aquire pairs, but do have an odd habit of adding similar watches at times - I do have a handful, some included above, that are unworn and just collected for the sake of collecting - so I have another to wear.

I think he just buys every watch he sees and will inevitably end up with plenty of pairs.

Scott, sell the duplicates and donate the money to some sort of really good charity or cause. You’ll feel much better for it and possibly change many peoples lives for the better.

Most delightful post in a long time. There is something charming about an irrational love for watches.

nice collection and can relate to it slightly,I have a dssd and love it, but for some reason unknown to me I had to have another of the same, not sure why.Justified it by telling the wife they are for the kids so they have the same

And I thought I was mad consecutively and compulsively buying GW-5000s. Not now ;)

This hobby defies all logic so having that wonderful collection is understandable to me but my wife wouldn't get it. I'm lucky enough to have a speedmaster and a PO seamaster and when she first seen them side by side she questioned why I had bought two watches the same. She did to her credit study them for long enough to agree they were different. Anyway some of my favourite watches in there enjoy.

Fantastic set of... well, sets Scott.

Could have set some to the right time though. I have a gripping compulsion to come to your house and put them all at ten-to-two hands!

    Nuts.

But if I had the budget I know I'd have multiples of the same or similar Grand Seikos.

I did have a very large number of Submariners if I include date and non-date models (although I had many more Sea-Dweller 16600’s as a single model reference, and most dial options in the 14060 non-date Sub at one stage) including four LV’s - I think there are 3 of them and 4 of the Sea-Dwellers in one of these old pics below:

Lol - I did previously have two at the same time, but sold the older 1200 to one brother and the Fireblade to another. Amongst other bikes we still have 4 GS’s between us though, alongside 2 R1200S and 2 R80/7’s.

Please explain the motivation behind having identical watches I just don’t get it. I get variations of a reference but not two of the same. My watch hoppy is a bit obsessional but two of the same is just mad surely....no?

No real motivation or reason - but a few of the pairs are one to keep (tucked away as a long term unworn watch) and one to wear.

I always find this helps me to enjoy more the one for wearing. I’m not nearly as precious about it.
