    New undone dive watch

I'm not sure if I missed it but I don't think anyone has posted about these yet. Undone have just launched a new dive watch.

    Here is the link

    https://www.undone.com/uk/basecamp?_...3ge8qqqfoknueh

    And here is a photo

It appears to be being offered in a number of case colours and with either the sterile or a graduated bezel.

They make a big deal out of using lexan polycarbonate for the crystal which I believe is more impact resistant than acrylic but less scratch resistant if such a thing is possible.

The bigger issue is it is being touted as a tool watch but only has 50 meters of water resistance so isn't even really suitable for swimming. I don't understand how a well established microbrand charging £220 can't sort out at least 100 meters of water resistance when others that are smaller or newer manage to do it for less!

I am a bit underwhelmed by the design before the water resistance is factored in. What are other people's thoughts on this?

I think they're 11 days too late for April Fools.

Yes especially with their description of it as "premium, customer made tool watch" designed for the "urban explorer".

I'm not averse to the design - the bezel would need to change (I think you said they have different bezels) and the minimal water resistance for a diver style watch is a deal breaker anyway.

I suppose it's large is it?

40mm with a 48mm lug to lug I think, so fine in that regards.

I quite like the design but 50m on a 'dive' watch undermines the integrity of the company for me.

A GMT hand for the hour hand looks a bit odd. Looks like they've modeled it on the Squale Opaca.

    Not a fan.

Probably one of the least imaginative watches I’ve ever seen. Looks like they’ve assembled it out of spare parts from different manufacturers on eBay and ended up with a watch you might get free with Action Man Magazine

Ha! That looks better - lest they’ve not just stolen Bell & Ross’ homework

    Pretty accurate, tbh.

    Dial: Sinn 556A / Lum-Tec M series
    Hour hand: Rolex Explorer II
    Case: Omega Speedmaster-ish
    Caseback: Panerai?
Bezel: Squale-like (I'm sure they didn't invent the sterile bezel, but its my first recollection)

Its not even like its been inspired by another watch. These looks like rip off parts.

Not for me, the nerves if I was ever in 164ft of water would finish me.

Plus the bezel, what's the point? The hands.... I quite like the nut they used as a crown. Pity they ruined it by making it into a crown.

And after another look the date...white on black dial and placed badly and not straight. Sigh....

Looks pretty bland unfortunately. I thought with the teaser emails it was gonna be a vintage Explorer style watch.Like their chrono but what's going on with 2019 releases - so bad,so boring.

Yup, heavily inspired. With a few tweaks can be made decent though.
Certainly not anything you would find in an Action man magazine. That's way off.

Probably first seen in the BP FF BUND. Although cases made by Von Buren, so the Squale "family".

Dial is *very* similar to the B&R BR-V.

A watch for hipsters designed by hipsters and marketed by hipsters.....I can't imagine there are many of us who fit that demographic here I went to the web site and the photos there are better but it's still too confused a design, however the case and domed crystal do look nice in profile. It might look better with a marked bezel but that's not available to May (Seems bezels with markings are hard to source ) I will admit I like the undone chrono, I would probably wear one of those, but this basecamp watch doesn't really work for me.

Its not a dive watch if its not ISO certified. 200m is minimum for this ( AFAIK). Its a diver styled fashion watch.

    Really? Says who?
An ISO certified diver is just that- ISO certified
There is no law that says every dive watch has to be ISO certified.
A dive watch is something you can dive with and serves the purpose.

Agreed. Better off buying a Casio and having money left over.

So Rolex don't make divers then?

I guess no-one told Blancpain they should have applied for an ISO certification on their fifty fathoms :D
