    iPad usage question

I received a ‘new’ iPad mini following a battery service. It all seemed fine but twice now i’ve shut down before bed with plenty of battery life showing, and then booted back up the following evening to a flashing cable sign for no juice, which was exactly what was happening to the ‘old’ one.

I checked the battery health and it looks like this:

Am I right in thinking that the activity is full on from 12am to 9am? When the iPad was off? WTF?

I can understand the Safari usage because it’s all we use it for really.

It’s under warranty so hopefully Apple will fix it but does anyone have any ideas about what’s going on?

Stupid question, you dont have an auto wake command on do you. When you switch it off, does it stay off! The usage monitor and depletion rate of the battery look like its on and running full chat. You have screenshots of the last 24 hrs what does the other tab “ last 10 days” look like?

It might be worth enabling Screentime to to see if a particular website is causing the issue.

Just done this. I'll check back in a few days and see what's what.

Have you tried a reset? It's surprising how many things it fixes.

    True, I should try this.

I'm 99.9% positive that it's shut down. And if it wasn't, unless the screen was on, which it shouldn't be because it's in a fold over case that turns the screen off, how would it still kill 65% battery?

It's a mystery. I only use it to browse me watch forums.

    I thought this.

I'll try a reset, and keep monitoring usage. Stupid technology

If it isn't actually shut down, then even with the screen display off, stuff could still be using the battery.

One possibility is that the browser is still connected to a web site that is running some script (e.g., advertising).

Another possibility, one that I've encountered, is that the tablet could be connecting to wifi periodically. For example, if you have it checking something periodically, then it mght have to re-establish the wifi connection, which is more expensive with regard to power use than keeping the connection. To check this, you can turn wifi off, and let it sit overnight.

    Best wishes,
    Bob
