Can anyone confirm (or deny) that a P.9010 calibre has hacking seconds? I just picked up a PAM01661 and it does not hack, but I have read in various reviews online that movement does ? Can any owners check? All the best. Martyn.

I know the newer movements don’t hack, which I think I’ve read on the Risti forum. Unsure which specifics one’s mind you.

Hi Martyn. The recent 9010s don't hack.

    https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=787757

IMO not a progressive step from Panerai.

At least you know your piece is a recent manufacture.

PS Love the watch. A great version.

Thanks. I just did a google search and found out since after 2020 the movement has been 'updated' with the removal of a hacking seconds. (https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/pane...t-t314021.html)

This is not a big deal for me, as its a small seconds. But was slightly taken aback after reading the 9010 was with a hacking seconds. It's a very comfortable 44mm weighing in at 96g.

Popped into the boutique and swapped out the brown alligator for a green rubber. Transforms the watch into the perfect holiday piece

That is a very nice Panerai. What are the lug bars on these? Are they screw in? Many Thanks

AFAIK, 9010 should hack. Not while adjusting the hour hand though.

Mine does not hack in any position. I believe this is an “improvement” after a minor upgrade - grrrrr.

lug's with holes - not screw in btw

Thinking to pick up my first Pam. Leaning towards a 42mm submersible after trying a few on. Either the azzuro (blue bezel) or the 683:

Yep. Drilled lug holes with spring bars. I need to get mine swapped over to supplied rubber at my AD for the summer - as I don’t have the required sized spring bars

I tried a few and initially was going for the 42mm sub - but ended up with the 44mm one you can see above. Suprised that the large Pams fitted well.

That’s great thanks for the info. I do like this one, not a massive fan of spring bars, but I guess they must be pretty secure.

That dial with the blue looks perfect.

    Panerai appreciation thread

Tried these two on in the Harrods boutique at the weekend as I wanted to see if I could pull off a 47mm sub.

Wish I hadn’t tried the Mike Horn 984 on though as it was lovely. But more than double the cost of the 1305 is just mad and I can think of much better watches to drop £18k on. Still nice though.

Enjoying my new Submersible - the white dial and steel bezel allow for lots of different strap colours. The 42mm case is great.

I think the blue colour and black case go really well together. If paired with the OEM black Velcro with blue trim I think it would ace.

Were all the 01661 Carbotech watches produced without hacking seconds? Or did the first production run have hacking seconds?

Cheers. 1661 is one of the few modern Panerai watches I like. No shiny polished bits and a stealth appearance. Not so keen on spring bars, but I could live with them.

I did read the first did.

I find it interesting that my most expensive pieces do not have hacking seconds (Pateck, VC now Paneria). Is it just coincidence?

I’ve been looking through reviews of the 01118, 00661 and 01661. I haven’t seen any that hack yet, when they release the crown - the second hand still moves. I may have been unlucky in my review choices though. I do like both the 01118 and 01661 - very cool and a nice alternative to steel. I’ve had a few Carbon Fibre/ceramic watches from different manufacturers and the all black look is definitely preferable to steel for me.

I have the 01118 and it sort of hacks. When you pull out the crown it stops and reverses if you turn the crown back a fraction, it generally holds. Like the older speedy 1861 but better. I also owned the 01661 and it’s exactly the same.

Both are amazing watches you will not be disappointed. I flip way too many watches but the 01118 isn’t going anywhere. Just about perfect.

I do like both the 01118 and the 01661. I have enquired about one, so we’ll see. I haven’t seen either of them in the flesh yet, which I could probably do with doing. I don’t normally flip watches too often, but I seem to have flipped quite a few at the moment. The carbon fibre watches that I have owned, I’ve enjoyed more than steel equivalents.

If you are ever in London I am happy to show you mine as the 01118 is boutique only and believe it’s sold out.

That’s great thank you. There are some used 01118 watches around. But the tax on bringing one in makes it less appealing.

I'd certainly consider going for the 1 127 over 2. It all depends on which 2 to be honest though.

Im tempted by a Rose Gold Luminor.
Anyone ever had one and what's the hairline ratio like when up against steel?

They do mark very easily and I personally think that they are not the best precious metal you could chose!

Not sure I'd agree. I've always thought the 127 dial looks a little unbalanced because of the sub-seconds and the "9" being there too. Almost as though they had to put the numbers a little further towards the edge of the dial because of the sub-seconds. The 372 has much better balance IMO
