My all time favourite watch.
Nothing has come close for me in an everyday sports watch.
I'm sure there is room for dressier watches, but this model would be the last to leave for me, followed by the 16610LV, the COSC 14060, then the Patek 5711. All my other watches are just nice to haves.
It's just a matter of time...

I agree. 6-digit Dwellers sure are great watches but they lost this beautiful and timeless case shape.
I'm not so keen on the new Sea dwellers but the SD4k was IMHO the last true SD
The SD 16600 is just sublime - it shouldn’t be possible but it’s a hard core tool watch with elegance. Looks good with anything, perfect size and classy.

I own Pepsi 16710 too. It's definitely the most "photogenic" Rolex I've owned.
But as a daily wearer 16600 and 16610 are much nicer (just a personal preference).
Funny amongst the WIS, the chosen "most fav" Rolex models are the dull safe choices "everyone" makes.
It really is a collective bubble.
I wanted a 16600 a few years ago and went to buy one from my watchmaker, who had a case full of new and near new Rolexes in his safe. Unfortunately he'd sold the SD that morning, but offered me a NOS 16710 GMT II with a black bezel. It wasn't what I wanted, but 5 years later he still had it, so we did a deal, I bought it - and that coincided with a period where my international travel increased, so the extra functionality of the GMT II has come in very handy. I've tried it on the black, the Coke and the Pepsi bezel - and I'd be hard pressed to choose between them all. The GMT II is probably the most versatile watch Rolex has ever made - suiting a bracelet or a NATO equally well.
I had that period of collecting when I was lusting after every new model and thinking "oh, that's the watch I've been looking for". I bought three Planet Oceans, one Breguet XX, Breitling Skyland, TT Sub, Explorer II, etc.
Not that I didn't like those... all fine watches for sure. But in the end of the day you just go "back to basics". At least it happened to me. I don't want new watches anymore, I'm happy with the ones I have because I know I found the ones I really like, and want to own long term.
PS: SD is not quite the choice "everyone" makes. That would be the 16610 Submariner. I have that too, though... but I prefer the SD.
Nothing 'dull' about it. The only bubble is the one that some people who think scoffing at popular choices makes them look smart live in.
I counted mine up, and over the years I’ve owned 14 Rolex’s including 3 SD’s👍
The one I like the most and means the most is this one..
