    My first Breitling

Having been somewhat of a “Rolex fan boy” over the last few years with the odd omega purchase,I’ve never really looked too much into Breitling. I’ve always liked the look of them etc but I’ve never truly thought about purchasing one until I saw this beauty a few weeks ago.

It’s a watch I’ve always liked as a friend of mine owned one about 5 years ago and I always liked the look of it.

I’ve got to say I’m blown away by the watch. The case finishing and bezel and bracelet and crown are superb, and the dial is simply stunning! I love the way the light catches the Matt black dial. I think this is going to be in the collection for a long time to come. I’m glad I’ve finally crossed over into such a fantastic brand!

I don’t currently own a breitling but I’ve loved everyone I’ve had ,never been able to fault the build quality and timing. Its a shame some of there prices are rising, but I suppose so are everyone else’s ,if you can get a good discount,i think there well worth buying.

Yes the price was far too good to turn down. I think a little bit of my reluctance in the past has been due to them not holding their value as much as say Rolex but at the end of the day it’s a good price for a good watch that I’m very happy with. Resale price shouldn’t come into it if you truly love a watch

Ohh dear, that sounds a bit like my "logic" Example - I sold a blue Omega AT recently, but got a Tudor BB GMT to replace it. Logic? I felt the Omega to be a bit too formal and I decided that I wanted something a little more casual

The steel bracelet is very comfortable but I’d imagine the rubber would be even more so

Yeah, I've got a similar model, the rubber is very comfortable.

    Rotten pic though!

They are a very well made large heavy watch and do make a statement

    Cheers,
    Neil.

A bit like you, OP, I have never really given too much thought to Breitling but the photo of your latest addition is making me change / open my mind. Best of luck with it!

I love Breitlings but have not had a lot of luck with them so far. I had an auto Colt which was fabulous and my wife had the same but quartz, now all long gone (including the wife - sob!) but I have had three others bought from a variety of places and all three are/were fakes!

One from eBay back in the early 2000s (Crosswind chrono) and was fake as a very fake thing but looked lovely. In disgust at my stupidity, I gave it to a friend as I couldn't wear it and looking at it reminded me of the sheer stupidity of some people (me). He still wears it! It still looks great and keeps good time, just needs an occasional new battery.

A Breitling was my first 4 figure watch, a lovely Chrono Avenger M1; and I have to say 10 years on I still think the detail and precision of that watch are hard to beat. I love the brand, a Navitimer is next on the list.....

Congrats OP - lovely watch; and I hope you enjoy it for as long as I've enjoyed mine!

    My first Breitling

Well done OP, that looks lovely. I’m a confirmed Breitling fan as are a number of other members here.

    I’ve owned 5 in total...
    * Superocean Steelfish XL blue dial on leather
    * Avenger Skyland black dial on rubber
    * Avenger Seawolf II yellow dial on steel
    * Aerospace Avantage on rubber
    * Navitimer World blue dial on leather

I still own the Navitimer and both Avengers. I sold the Aerospace because I didn’t like it and recovered the purchase price of the Steelfish from the dealer who sold it to me when it was proved to be a fake...

Congratulations on your first Breitling - if I’m anything to go by it may not be your last!

Gratuitous photos of my current three...

This is my first Breitling purchased off this very forum and I love it.
Was going to get a bracelet for it but changed my mind as it looks stunning on the rubber.
Find myself looking at a Automatic now to compliment it.

It’s always great to discover a degree of quality you weren’t anticipating in a brand. Well done on the purchase :)

I think it looks great on his wrist! Brietling are a big watch and are meant to look big and have presence on the wrist.
It does all that here, but doesnt look too big.

Wrist shots always make it look larger than real life too!

I’ve nearly purchased the avenger blackbird a few times but never quite done it!

    Yours looks spot-on, enjoy.

I was surprised to find out that the lug to lug length on this watch is bigger than a Rolex 126660 Deepsea!

Nice, congratulations! I have one too, always loved Breitlings but was surprised how high the majority sat when I tried them on.

I went for the Arabic dial
