NOS Seiko SNKF09 (BFS) to mod or not to mod...

I have the opportunity to get NOS Seiko SNKF09 ("BFS") in white but modded (or upgraded) with sapphire crystal and hack&handwind 4R36 movement (original is with 7S26).

What do you think? Leave it original or go with the upgrade?

I really like the looks of this (forum pic.)

I think the meaning of "NOS" becomes somewhat diluted when the watch is modified.

The BFS is quite a rare watch these days. I would leave it as it is.

Yes, if planning is to sell it later (modding reduces value IMO), but for everyday wear sapphire and hack&handwind seems tempting...

Well you seemed to have answered your own question then.

...and that is the main problem, when ordering online, you just never know...some watches never grew on me, but after trying it I changed my mind; and other way arround, big like at first but later...

Thats why its good to hear what other people have to say

In that case... Would I spend my money upgrading it? No it’s a waste of money in my opinion. The watch is not very good looking to my eye and a sapphire crystal and the ability to hand wind is not going to improve that.
Modifications do tend to hurt the resale price but the addition of sapphire is a worthwhile change if you plan to keep the watch and water resistance is maintained. The difference in movements is almost non existant other than hand winding so I would not bother.
Sorry to be blunt but you did ask.

    Exactly my thoughts.

If it's scarce and NOS I wouldn't touch it.

I think you are right, I can always mod it later (if decided)
