Thread: How far would you travel to view / buy a watch?

  1. #51
Many years ago I flew from London to Geneva to buy an Orbiter Breitling Emergency. In fairness a friend who lives out there negotiated with the dealer (Kuntz - a name I can't forget). With the cost of the flights etc it was still a lot cheaper.

mrs Goat travelled to New York and picked up my wedding watch...

All depends, I'l never be spending megabucks so I don't think I would travel too far. Might drive an hour or two for the right watch at the right price, wouldn't specifically take a flight to another country for one though.
If i was already planning a trip and it happened to coincide with a potential purchase then bully for me, but it wouldn't be solely for the purpose of obtaining a watch.

I flew from Dublin to London to buy my PO, much bigger market in the UK and travel is easy (for the moment anyway!). I'd often fly over to buy a car too and jump on the ferry back, all same day.

I have no set distance limit for the right watch, at the right price.
It's just a matter of time...

That's the way to do it. Beats buying something you have never seen, nor never tried on and have a worried couple of days worrying about loss in the post.

    Red face Autavia

Sounds crazy but I did contemplate a trip to Tokyo for a rare Autavia... I didn't actually go in the end but if you really really want it, why not.
