9am on the website and by 09.05 every Rolex AD in the country will have closed their lists to buyers and everyone will be here saying they are first on the list etc etc. Strange watch world we have at the moment that everyone needs to get on the Rolex new release lists.

I was on the phone to my usual Rolex retailer at 10.00 am and in branch before 11.00am to “ confirm my interest “

Told I was first to come into branch yet ended up getting the fourth Pepsi delivered after much persistence chasing it up.

Being first through the door or on the phone
means nothing nowadays. All about the “relationship” lol. “Has sir bought previously from us?, if sir is interested in a zillion date justs that nobody wants, sir may get the next submariner that comes in.....in 6 months”
Great big game unfortunately and if your not on the train as of yet I doubt you can get on unless you go to an AD and start buying all the unwanted watches that are available everywhere to form said “relationship”..

Isn’t it all just a bit demeaning? Scrabbling desperately around after a mass-produced Watch? I’d prefer to go without (which I will!)
    The whole situation is offputting.

Completely agree. It clearly works for Rolex and I own two apparently 'in demand' models, but this whole masquerade really puts me off the brand, don't think I will buy another any time soon.

I’m interested in what gets released but the lists and process puts me off completely. Which is lucky as I’m saving for an explorer 1 for my wife’s 40th in 2 years & cant spend my watch fund on me until then.

Also reassessing what I need vs want & whether trinkets are as an important part of my life as they once were.

That depends to a large extent on the way the dealer handles such enquiries. The AD I ended up buying a couple of watches from last year (sadly now no longer a Rolex AD) was not at all condescending when I first walked in with no prior buying history with them to enquire about an in-demand watch. They politely told me there was already a long list, but offered to take my details anyway. On the second or third occasion I popped in to enquire they had remembered my name. There's ways and ways..

BlackBay is getting a few more versions... not shock there!

    70150 is an odd looker.

Blnr not being discontinued is a bonus as that’s my 40th watch. Sadly it’s on a jubilee.

If true, hopefully you can buy a spare oyster/jubilee and have two bracelet variations. Unless Rolex have changed the lugs size etc...

  22. #122
Going on the leaks on RPR, what a disappointing year...

BLNR on Jubilee - doesn’t suit it like the Pepsi does
Meteorite GMT - well, a GMT has been into space, but it doesn’t work
Yachtmaster 42 - looks generic, but hopefully saves the Sub from being up-sized
TT SD43 - well, some of the original Deep Seas were bi-metal, but in reality probably a watch for the vulgar

Tudor? That 70150 thing is odd, will need more photos. Two-tone BB Chrono looks quite good, otherwise only seen a BB Bronze with a slightly darker blue dial than the Blucherer... a bronze 58 would be nice... I certainly expect something else with the 58 movement.

I do think it’s possible that these leaks are a wind-up... can’t be that hard to photoshop/fake nowadays... the YM42 does fit with the official trailer though.

Wow that RolexPassionReport guy is a sensitive flower. I just called him out on Instagram for previously saying that the BLNR was 100% discontinued never to return and he blocked me.

Interesting leaks by rolexpassionreport on Instagram. BLNR with upgraded movement is tempting for me.

Even Rolex liked the post so it must be legit?!

Given the evidence about RPR on the “First Watch on Everest” thread, I’d take all these “leaks” with a bucket of salt.

He doesn’t appear to let the truth get in the way....

Sorry bud are you moaning you’ve had to visit branch to “register” your interest? You’ve clearly got a good relationship with the AD to get the models you have. Try starting over with a new AD....

It has got me wondering if Rolex Group might print dummy brochures (which these are clearly photographed from) to throw watch hunters off the scent of real releases!

I don’t think the leaks are everything, but if you consider the first official trailer from Rolex:

Dial and case shown match the alleged Yachtmaster 42

Star shooting across the sky matches the alleged meteorite dial GMT

I think the leaks are correct, but (and this is also a hope) not all there is...

Did RPR get a single thing right last year? The year before he called the SD43, but everything else was nonsense. I’m sure the SD info was very close to the event, so maybe he’s got something here, but his overall batting average is absolutely terrible.

Leaks look quite boring. Hopefully it helps me get a SD43 or D-Blue when all the traffic focusses on the new stuff.

I think at this late stage the leaks are genuine. They'll be hundreds of Exhibition contractors putting the finishing touches on the stands ready for tomorrow. It'll be almost impossible for the big brands to hide their stand graphics until launch.

Have you seen the new batman then? Thought it was being released tomorrow? If Rolex have changed the lugs on the newer version (if the rumours of a new model in jubilee are true), then you may not be able to change the bracelets...
