Was the first watch shown on the front page of their website recently... trying to divine the next Rolex is more akin to tarot reading or astrology than science

I noticed that but potentially a red herring. Their social media people seem to go in phases - they're on a two tone date just hit at the moment, before Christmas we had a couple of weeks of GMT master. Though the Milgauss post did go on for a month which is significant.

Seems counter intuitive to me though to plug the old so heavily prior to a new one - its not like they've got warehouses of them to clear.

Easier to promote the significance of a new model with historic design cues if the profile of the model and it's roots are raised, maybe.

I’m on the fence whilst I like the mock up I really like the current Milgauss especially the lightning second hand

I really want that 'polar' dial Explorer. I'll have to dream until Eddie gets his skates on with the white PRS-25.

We should find out on the 20th (day before) where the Rolex site should have previews of the Baselworld collection

What makes you think they will do that? I don’t recall them ever showing their cards until Basel opens. Unless you count the leaked Explorer II debacle the year the 39mm Explorer was released.

Rolex website says it is unveiling 20th March.

I am holding off on buying my first Rolex to see what is to come.

Are Basel watches in stores soon after ?

An AD informed me that he expects the Rolex site to show a preview of the new watches on the 20th. It wasn’t clear what time it would be but likely to be early evening GMT. That said I’m new to this forum and I didn’t know about Baselworld until January this year.
Let’s hope this tip proves true

Yes, usually a matter of days and often discounted to boost immediate demand for the newly launched models.

    Welcome!

You’re new here, aren’t you? Have a read of some of the Rolex threads. Their business model these days is to launch new watches that everyone wants but make supply so limited that no-one can get hold of them at list price unless they are a regular big spender with their local AD.

Unless you have have unlimited resources, your best bet is to get something pre-owned.

On top of this they are often given away free if you buy an outgoing model. I got a free SS GMT Pepsi when I bought a Datejust 2.....

If only, Fraser Hart wouldn’t give an inch on a 116610 Submariner I wanted so I have decided to hold off for new 2019 model and see if it brings new Submariner. Maybe then discount on ‘old’ model will become available. I hope.

Just to be clear - you’ll not get any sort of discount at all on the Rolex professional steel sport models. As for the new models - you’ll be extremely lucky to even get on a waiting list. If they offered you a sub at list price, with no lengthy wait you should have taken it 100%

Not wishing to be harsh, and no offence meant, but it appears you have no current knowledge of Rolex supply, demand and pricing. As I said earlier, have a read of the various Rolex threads and you'll see where things are at currently. If you were offered a 116610 at list price, that's probably as good as it gets. You will not get anywhere near a new (stainless steel) Submariner, if one emerges in a few weeks.

OP, this is the current reality. The usual rules of commerce do not apply to Rolex, especially their steel sports models.

Actually they typify the rules of commerce.

Limited production and high desirability = premiums and hard to procure and waiting lists.

Ok il chime in...AD I spoke to today seems to think it could be a new sub as he said last year Rolex introduced a new GMT as did Tudor and he “knows” Tudor are releasing a new sub this year so surmises Rolex may do the same. Either that or the explorer 11 is his prediction.

Joke as it may be but that in 42mm (or the size of the current sub) with a modern bracelet would be wonderful.

to be known as a Sprite & suggested by me when I acquired (from Blowers !) my GMTc in 2008 !! Don't suppose that would get me to the top of the list

Just checked it out. Can’t see any numerals on the bezel, therefore unlikely to be a TOG?

Only the inner circle or those who jump through lots of loops, all who will in time flip for a profit.

So boring now that I've given up on Rolex.

In hindsight I agree but I can't think what else would have a fluted bezel and a 'toothed' (?) case-back??

As others have opined I now also think there's two different watches in the teaser, if there is I think perhaps new Exp II's (hence the black/white gold hand differences between the two teasers).

Not tomorrow, the day after. Not sure what time exactly... it is usually day-time rather than some anti-social hour.
