    US Shipping Advice (within US)

I'm looking into having a valuable item posted within the US.
Does anyone have any recommendations of services that are reliable and provide insurance?
The item is a camera accessory and insurance would good to have to USD3000.

Any recommendations or suggestions much appreciated.

    Best wishes,

    AP.

When I was in New Haven for a sabbatical, the USPS Priority Mail Express was the preferred for valuable items to an LA friend's lab. You can insure up to 5000 USD, and it was (at least two years ago) very reliable. If I recall well, UPS also offered enhanced insurance and they were good.

I've used FedEx overnight shipping within the US previously for a high value item. You have to pay a premium for the insurance based on a price (I think $0.75) per $100 dollars of value. May not be the cheapest option but it was efficient and no issue with item.

FedEx, and Under no circumstance ship anything valuable with UPS. I have had two really bad experiences with UPS shipments, insured for over $15K. Neither one ended up being covered by said insurance. Enough said.

The US Postal Service is okay as long as you get insurance for the full amount, (that'll include tracking and signature on delivery).

Thanks very much; all very helpful and appreciated.
FedEx it seems is advisable and I've elected for that with full insurance, tracked and signed for. Am hopeful it'll go smoothly.
Will inform how it gets on (fingers crossed)!

    Cheers,

A quick note to state that Fed-ex overnight worked very well and even arrived a few hours before the 3pm due time.
Thanks again for the recommendations and experiences.

My wife was reminding me today how shoddy FedEx service has been here in Seattle. She hates them. Delivery is unreliable.

Generally fedex anywhere on the planet unless its the UK in which case the royal mail is okay usually.

I've used them all and they have all messed up but fedex by far the least problematic. Avoid UPS.

I'd certainly go with Fed-ex again, though I can understand the frustration with delivery timings.
I agree that RM is generally quote good apart from one experience some years back when an Omega Seems (WW2 original version) was stolen in transit and in RM custody.

    Cheerio,

If this is still relevant, I can share my little experience
Looks like FedEx and UPS have very similar services type , both offer services based on various delivery time. They have a lot in common, but they do have some key differences. They both give same recommendation about tracking services, https://pkge.net/couriers/winit
