Gordon Murray Mk1 Escort build - update

I posted about this a while ago, but this latest update has been a while coming, as explained in the video.

thanks been following it , one person continuously for one year , in terms of man hours , new mazda gearbox from mazda , nice , money no object and the best engineering ( well you would not expect less from the owner) however I bet it rides blo*dy hard with all that rose jointed suspension on our pot hole roads ( I believe it a road and track car) !

I've followed this project from the start and the attention to detail is mind boggling.

If they get the maths right, roll centres, caster angle, anti dive etc, it will be fairly compliant, the people involved know what they are doing, bits of rubber are usually a low cost, low maintenance compromise.

I love it, but not as much as Project Binky.

Filming and editing is really nice (better than 'Binky') but it's too verbal. "Then we did this, then we did that". Which is good, but showing things is nicer than telling what you did. Example: in one of the earlier episodes, they showed the hole for the air for the cold air box. and... then we added a recessed circle on the other side for symmetry (Paraphrasing the original text). I'm more interested in how they achieved this wonderful perfect circle!

Sometimes they get to that point: like the construction of the rear independent suspension, but that's only a short scene of the video.

I know that these guys are wonderful car builders. Murray has chosen them for a reason. Perhaps I shouldn't complain about what I get to see. After all, I can't reproduce anything like that when there's a Jaguar in the workshop needing its engine done.

He does at least seem to have curbed his habit of laughing randomly in the middle of a sentence, which I was beginning to find annoying.
