    Apple Airpod Pros ear reaction

    Hi All,

I have had my airpod pros since August last year, but in the last few months my ears have stated to react to wearing them, with clear discharge and then going crusty etc.

Went to the doc's and got an ear spray which clears it up and then it comes back when wearing them again so I know that this is related to them now and not just an ear infection which I thought I did have.

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, I have even changed the tips to Comply ones and also anti-bac'd the case and pods themselves.

    Thanks

    I'm assuming this isn't a cleverly disguised pre-SC post.

Sorry to hear (no pun intended) of your ear issues - I've never come across this (I ended up giving my AirPods away to my youngest as I couldn't find a good fit). Have you had this problem with any other inner-ear headphones (i.e. the cause is specifically the AirPod materials not just having something inserted into your ears)? Although it's interesting that the problem only started after many months of wearing them (maybe the warmer weather / sweat ?).

Haha, nope I really want to keep them, but if this keeps happening or no way to stop it from happening...

I have changed the tips, they fit well. Started to happen at the end of April but only in the last month have found the link after to courses of spray from the docs, but wondering if the coating has worn from use etc, searching online there seems to be a wide issue of people saying this happens to them, but have change the tips and it has gone away but I am thinking that the body is an issue now with me after changing the tips.

Unless it's related to the heat etc.

Could it be related to hay fever?

It would probably be a good idea to call it a day and stop wearing them.

    Get some over ear headphones.

So, after speaking with Amazon about them, they are allowing me to send them back.

They have also allowed me to send back the Comply tips I got to test them out.

Happy days, will get a different brand in the Prime Day deals!!

I wear a hearing aid for about 10 - 14 hours per day. I don't have any problems because the plunger thingy that you shove down in the ear has several ventilation holes in them.

The AirPods don't have anywhere as much ventilation which indicates, to me at least, that they are designed for short term use.

I’d had standard pods with no issues for ages but after wearing pros for a period of time had the same issue as you, went to drs ear sprays etc …. Died off then noticed it would flare up after wearing the pros so eventually I ditched them and brought some air pods max and not had any issues since

Must be the latex on the pros

I can’t wear any earphones where the tips stick into the ear canal like the pro’s. I never usually get ear infections but within a few days if using this style of headphones I certainly do! - I saw an ENT specialist a few years ago who said I have sensitive ear canals and since I stopped using them I’ve had no problems. I still have the original AirPods and they’re fine!

I occasionally get eczema in my ears particularly the right one fsr, gets all crusty, and wet if I pick it. I use Betnovate ointment and it clears up quickly.
