    Is my strap broken?

I dropped my Omega semester last night. Yes I know I'm an idiot.

I checked it over and it looked fine but when I went to put it on the clasp wouldn't shut. On inspection a small part has come out.

I've attached pictures both of the part and where it came out from. Has anyone seen anything like this and can offer advice? Hopefully I can get it fixed and don't need a new strap.

    Thanks everyone

The rest of the clasp is out of shot, but that looks to me like it could be the part the main clasp latches onto that protrudes from one of the other two pieces that fold away under the clasp. Clumsy description, but hopefully you know what I mean?

Yes I think I know what you mean.

On the photo of the strap there are 2 holes. I think the part has come loose from the hole on the right and this is why the clasp won't engage. I don't want to force it in myself in case I'm wrong.

Agree. Looks like it could be the omega version of this.

Thanks wileeeeeey, that's the bit I meant.

On my Speedmaster bracelet looks like this. Should be pretty obvious if this is missing - it's nor from inside the clasp I don't think.

It goes into the hole but is fixed to the other folding part of the clasp

Ahh I've been looking in the wrong place!

I'll have another look at it when I get home tonight.

Not sure if i can be of assistance, but I purchased a new clasp last week as mine was also broken, BUT the part you need is still very much intact and needs your old pin.

Both @wileeeeeey and @gcleminson are correct.

It's the solid stainless steel folding part of the clasp. From what I can tell dropping it has caused it to fall out. There doesn't appear to anything holding it in place unless there is glue residue that I can't make out.

Now do I try to put it back in myself, lightly hammering it? Cheapest option, unless I screw it up.

I could buy a new or used part and take it to a watch repair shop and get them to change it. Middle cost option I think, depending on the cost of the part (£50 to £200 from a brief google search)

Or I could approach an omega watch repairer who would do the whole thing for me. But I think this would be the most expensive option.

    Thanks everyone

Looks like there are two ADs who can do servicing in Norwich. I would pop in or give them a call.

Worse case you can get a new clasp with the micro adjustment. I think the Seamaster clasp I bought for my Speedmaster was £125 or so.

Probably just need to clarify...are you offering him part of your old bracelet to fix his? He might have missed this.

That's how I read it. Kind offer if so, but I don't actually think that would solve the problem, because the hinge-pin is a fixed part and not removeable as far as I can tell.

Maybe use a bit of loctite on it or studlock

Sorry yes I was, I managed to pick up a whole clasp last week on an auction site for £10, so this one is going begging.

    Nice one 👍
When I've seen bracelet parts on Ebay they haven't been that cheap.

Sorry @uktotty I didn't realise you were offering the part. If you're happy to part with it I'll take it and pay you for it.

I can private message you if that's okay and we can discuss further?

See my comment above. uktotty's old clasp has become separated, and the hinge pin for the two folding parts is not something you can easily replace yourself as it's riveted and not designed to be removeable like a spring bar.

You're far better off trying to source a whole clasp from somewhere, despite the generous offer.

    Okay.

I've found some on ebay that are used for £100. But I've been in contact with a local company and they have quoted me £199.98 (plus a possible an extra £23.40 if it needs to be ultrasonically cleaned.

I reckon this is a pretty fair price, I was worried I'd have to fork out for a new strap with would cost £300+

    Is my strap broken?

I used to have one of these and always thought the little pin just ‘clicks’ into place? When the watch is done up the clasp fits round the pin, holding it in place - I imagine once clicked back into the recess it came from it would be hard to budge? It looks like a DIY job to me if you’re careful - maybe (padded) pliers would pop it back in

If you can wait until the weekend when I am back in the UK I might have a spare Seamaster clasp, though I don’t recall it’s exact dimensions.

That pin is fixed by a round metal disc that is pressed in place. I guess you have lost the disc. To be fair even if you had it they are impossible to refit once out
