    Best survival watch

Looking for something solar that will really hold up https://getawaychief.com/watches-for-backpacking/ .
Must be able to see the face at night. Some of these arent lit.
Need to see direction, barometric pressure, etc.
    Looking to spend under 300$

    Good first post.

I'm looking for a beach holiday this year, mainly because the kids will like it.

I'm also looking for decent t-shirts that fit me and don't shrink in the wash.

I'm going through this with my three-year-old at the moment, you see. He tells me 'I want a drink' and I tell him 'I want some more sleep'. He's learning pretty fast the difference between a statement and question. He's already learnt how to call me a 'pedantic d**k' too

Tissot t-touch might be a possibility but is probably over budget unless you get lucky.
    Garmin might do something.
but yes Gshock is probably the answer.

G Shock with tough solar. GW5610 or GW6900 have tough solar & multiband so, at least while civilization stands, you wont have to worry about setting the time.

Tough solar ensures battery will stay charged, and there are reports of 15+ year old g-shocks with tough solar that are still going strong with the original battery.

Both can be had for under 100 quid.

There's bound to be a G-shock with most if not all of those functions, ugly things but 'horses for courses'.

only noticed your need for a compass and barometer. Casio GW9400 rangeman is really the only option.
Can be had for under 200 quid if you shop around and get a deal.

I think you can't beat the GW5610. Rugged, timeless, inexpensive...

    To survive what?

    TEOTWASKI.....?!

    How about an EMP........?!

Does your chosen watch have to have a faraday cage?

Welcome to the forum. Can I ask which particular Swiss finishing school you attended?

Learning to tell the time via a stick and the sun would be a useful tool in survival situations.
Legibility at night can sometimes be an issue.

You did realise you can navigate with any analogue watch?

How about a nice swiss army knife instead?

Gshock is what you want. I’d personally rather have a Sub , a knife and some matches ( maybe a browning hipower or a glock for good measure).

And the sub is primarily in case I need to bribe someone or charter a plane . ( gun works much better and is cheaper but not without complications).

Matches get wet. Better with steel wool and a battery - rainproof fire every time

Survival matches are waterproof ( available in any UK rat pack) . Alternatively you can waterproof normal matches by dipping the heads in wax.

And a firesteel works pretty well.

Who needs a watch when you can watch things burn!

Tongue the dirt from different angles. North is always a little sweeter than south and west is slightly more bitter than east . Something to do with the UV direction from the sun changing the chemicals in the soil over time.

Alternatively wearing a pair of nylon tights over your face and applying lemon juice or diesel on top will allow you to see the bright smudge of where the pole star is.

    Try it.

I used to think about which robust watch could handle TEOTWAWKI, but now I know. It's a Vostok Amphibia.
Extremely affordable, can take a beating. And you can polish the acrylic yourself if needed.
