Haha. You're right of course. Appreciate the advice.

For what it's worth mine was a genuine answer. I don't think there's an official term so that's how I would describe them. Maybe try not to jump to conclusions next time, some folk are just trying to be helpful.

    Understood. My apologies.

As mentioned here already, since joining last week I've apparently attracted the attentions of the forum kiddies, so developed a bit of a siege mentality.

    Appreciate your post.

Understood. My apologies to you sir.

As above, shall try to reset my expectation as previously formed. Nice to know there are a good number of decent grown ups here.

Well since we're all trying to build bridges, my answer was genuine too. Those two watches in the original post could be described as slab-sided. Still, let's not allow that to get in the way of a good over-reaction.

Apology accepted. It’s an unusual question to say the least but I don't see any problem with trying to educate yourself. I wouldn't get wound up by the jesters, just skip past posts that aren't helpful to you, there's usually some valuable input along the way such as the above from bobc.

Well, benefit of the doubt offered. Your extensive library of flounce-related media suggests you are part of the kiddy gang here, as does your last sentence above.

    I guess we'll see..

Thanks Bob. Seems Rolex's reason for this term derives from the square shape when looking directly at the top of the crown.

Post #106, using @ instead of "a" doesn't stop that looking crass in a public area of the forum. The owner and sole moderator really doesn't like profanity in the public fora here, or indeed the quoting if it.

Nah, we won't see. I really don't care about you. You behaved in a reactionary way, wilfully took offence at nothing, wilfully misunderstood a further comment and behaved like a spoilt little brat. You're going on my ignore list, I won't see further drivel from you. I'll get on with my day and you can continue with your self-righteous indignation at imagined slights.

    Hahaha! LMAO

Now THAT is the definition of flouncing. Lol.

There might or might not be a name for this, but to say that 'round with a crown guard' is an adequate description for all is not supportable.

Check the bezel and dial shape, they define the case shape.

But don't take my word for it.

Googling "scalloped integrated crownguards" produces literally zero results. I should have put the inverted commas around 'correct'. I was definitely right that it's not worth knowing.

In the past I've just called the overall design "556-style", because most people know what the Sinn 556 looks like, and the rest of the watch is much less memorable - the shape is the first element that comes to mind.

I've been wanting a 556i for so long. But I also want it to be totally smashed up and they're a bit pricey for that treatment.

Eski, in my professional opinion it's looking like a case of repetitive/chronic self harm. Seriously....

It was entertaining this thread and like a boxer if he’s still defending and throwing punches then the fight should go on, why did the ref call it off??

Thank the lord it's over. Earlier in the thread, I offered a link to an article which suggested that Rolex were the first to use an "integrated crown guard". So maybe there's the answer. It took me about 30 seconds on Google to find it.
