Morning all
I obtained the pictured watch yesterday. What I know is that it’s about 220 years old. I’m not really up on pocket watches, so my question is this. The dust cover is signed by Box from Chichester, who I know worked in the city until the early 1800’s until he has killed in a hunting accident. The movement, however, is signed by a maker from Lavant (Wilcox) which is just up the road from Chichester. Is it usual for the dust cover and movement to have two different names, or is this a marriage of two separate watches?
Also, can anyone identify the case maker?
Cheers

Two different names and two different numbers might suggest that it's just a dust cover that happened to fit, rather than the original cover. Cases and movements/covers often differ, but I don't think dust covers and movements should ever differ. Box, a clock and watchmaker, seems to have worked at 83, East St.
Caveat: I'm not an expert.
