PSA: 18 Craft Beers for £20

Advertised on Martin Lewis’ website at the minute - follow the link below. Some of them may be out of date but still supposedly drinkable.

Also worth checking your local M&S store. I got some cans of close dated beer for 40p further reduced on a 4 for the price of 3

Doesn't seem to work for me but that may be because I'm already a Beer52 member.

Worked for me but already a member. Did you sign in or try and fill out that first set of info? If the latter then it won't work.

They may have also sold out... they have a bad habit of not saying so. Had to claim back money from them because of that before.

    And thank you op!

I've just had my order accepted and an email confirming so - worth a punt for £20!

    Nice one, OP

Yeah, I figured even if one or two turn out to be bad it was still worth a punt.

    Thanks OP.

With a website as awful as that there's no wonder they're stocking out of date beer.

I gave up in the end.

Oops - it seems it did work both times I tried to order.

    Double thanks to the OP!

Keep an eye on that - it took me a while to get a refund when I intentionally bought two boxes last time, but they only sent one, but didn't tell me that it was only one box per household so they weren't sending the second.

Hopefully they've improved their systems for that as this was back when they were starting up

I will keep an eye on it but from their email to me...
Unfortunately, both your boxes have been dispatched and I can't stop these boxes going out to you.
Looks like I have a 'too much beer' problem to solve.

Presume the cams are 330 ml. Bottles look like they may be smaller.

Assuming all 330ml, it works out as £2 per pint.

A nice fun thing to do, but don’t feel like it’s an incredible deal

Definitely not an incredible deal but a decent one.
I'm a member of Beer52 and every month a box of beer arrives, many of which are interesting and completely new to me but it's definitely not the cheapest way to buy booze.
One of the downsides of Beer52 is that I'll drink a beer and really enjoy it but never see it again. Assuming the beers I get are the ones in the picture, there are one or two that I'll be pleased to see again. Doubly pleased as I seem to have bought two boxes by mistake.

Anyone else received their box yet? Mine came on Tues and I was quite pleased with the variety - quite a few I’ve never heard of. The ‘Moose Mousse’ chocolate stout I thought was a bit rubbish, but the Five Points XPA was pretty good..

Mine are apparently stuck in a Yodel warehouse after a problem there. I've also had some bicycle parts held up by the same issue (should have been with me last Friday, arrived today) so I'm not happy with Yodel at the moment.

What size are the tinnies and bottles?

    Some great stuff in this.

Some pretty damaged (packaging box intact so damaged before shipping), and just a couple of months to go before their sell by date...not that they'll last that long! Certainly helps to explain the very low price for this stuff.

    A definite bargain.

Cans are mostly 330ml with a couple of 500ml. Bottles I can’t recall exactly (not at home now) but poss around 330ml too?

Mine were all intact - sounds like it’s a bit luck of the draw then.

I wouldn't expect any damaged ones and would contact them about it.
Short 'sell by' date not likely to be an issue here either.

Got mine today. Seems like nearly half are a month or two over the used by date. Not that that really concerns me given the product. Also no broken bottles which appears to be a bonus looking at this thread!

Can't even get an update on the order,
Not so desperate so I'll give it the weekend and if no update I'll cancel.

Sent an email and no response- if the promotion was intended to garner new customers it’s not done a great job.

Another no show here so far. I checked the order and there isn't even an order number so nothing to go on. It's only been a week and a bit so I'll hang on a bit longer.

Surely buying short sell bys defeat the object of buying decent beer - it changes a heck of a lot over the course of its shelf life.

Depends whether it’s bottle conditioned or not, no?

I'm not sure the object of buying this is to buy 'decent' beer, given the price being asked. Interesting beers certainly. And a good exploratory drink stash to see what may be worth buying more of later.

I'm surprised they are allowed to sell out of date stuff. (I know expiry/sell by/best before dates are a subject of debate.)

It’s not as if it’s pork mince. I bought a bottle of 1975 Chateau Rieussec off Catawiki the year before last. Didn’t kill us. Was rather nice actually..

I've just received notification that my normal March case from them is out for delivery today. I'm hoping it will have flushed these two cases through the system with it.

Seeing as there have been a few recent deliveries I haven't chased mine (yet!), I'll give it a day or two before I do so. I've got the order email confirmation and it's not as if I'm short on beer right now either...

I’m not desperate for then to turn up…. I am currently poleaxed with a virus, so, the very thought of beer turns me green!

    I’m just intrigued!

    For all those still waiting...

A 1 day difference in ordering = an 11 day difference in delivery for me. No Yodel issue reported either so could just be a big backlog in processing orders.

  49. #49
Received mine today after a longish wait. Nice mix of beers from the looks of things.

The normal March case arrived and I've just had texts saying the other two are coming tomorrow. So I'll be going into a 6 Nations weekend with 10 beers that are specially selected* for drinking with rugby and 36 short-dated beers that need drinking up.

(*no, I'm not sure how that works either)
