That is very nice , i love the finish on that steel
My new Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback Grey Steel is my first ever Zenith.
Really pleased with this.

I hadn't realised the steel on these was 'patina'ed'. Looks like worn revolver metal, which looks good
Very nice Andy. My CP2 is off at the spa at present - not due back until May. Seems like an eternity! That looks a very nice one.

Love that. I have the first reissue and probably my favourite watch.

Love that distressed finish. It's like a rat rod for watches!
Lovely watch Andy. If these were 40mm I would have one. Damn my small wrists

A better shot of the lovely movement

Great watch 👍
Congratulations :)
it's a very good looking watch, with a legendary movement!
also.. those pictures you've taken, they look amazing!
Like that a lot. Shades of the Lemania 1872 Viggen / SAAF.
Lovely watch and finish.
That really hits the spot for me. I don't know much about these but I could be drawn to them because it looks like my Heuer Bund.

Stunning watch.
Lovely piece
The design comes from about 1965, and was made for the Italian military ; it was a very large watch for it’s time, presumably to aid visibility. The 2015 CP2 was pretty faithful to the original, although as the El Primero movement didn’t exist until 1969, that’s an update on the original manual movement.
The idea was a limited edition of 1000 units, but they carried-on, just dropping the ‘LE’ claim.
Since then, they’ve produced several variations, which drift away from the original but look nice. Interestingly, the original was not a ‘flyback’ design. It also responds well to quite a variety of straps.
I know a lot of people say they’d like it to be smaller...but it was always this size. I think it looks fine on an average wrist.
I’ve somehow had three....always the ‘original’ re-issue version, which best floats my boat. Talking of which, 10atm which isn’t bad for a pilot watch.
It’s probably my favourite chronograph. In truth, in some ways I prefer it to the Daytona, because it avoids that cramped, busy, dial. Being Zenith they take a big hit on the used market, and I think they are great value.

I had this one a few years ago
Manual wind from memory. Nice watch that I regretted selling.

Me too (in terms of having one and regretting selling). I also had the Excelsior Park Monte Carlo in the same case. Both manual wind with screwdown crowns (huh???). Val 7731 for the Marine Star, 7740 on the ExPark.
The original Zenith Cairelli was Italy's answer to the Heuer Bund, once the Gemans had nicked the design off them (it was the Leonidas CP1 before it became the Heuer Bund), because the Italians simply couldn't issue something the Germans were issuing.........

ps- very nice Andy, I see the new one fitting into your collection very well. But I think I would have guessed you would go for the plain steel one, not the patinated one.
