I had my heart attack 21 years ago and still struggle to get covered, in fact I don't take out insurance and just hope I don't die or anything when out of the country :)
Having suffered a heart attack 2 years ago I knew that the premiums would increase when declared and I’ve just started investigating policies. Holidaysafe (which recommend) quoted me £400 for a 4 week trip to Canada excluding heart attack or related conditions which probably means anything at all - brilliant!
Saga would cover me for £1400 - cheers.
The medical screening used by these policies seem ridiculous eg has your condition occurred within 6 weeks or longer than 6 weeks? So 6 weeks and 1 day would attract the same premium as 10 years. Similarly can you walk over 200 yards without feeling out of breath? So if you regularly walk miles - irrelevant.
Does anyone know of policies offering decent screening that I can consider? Cheers and sorry for the rant.

Most will not cover pre-existing or related conditions.
Not worth a carrot TBH.

I don’t have shares (!) but always have a look at Martin Lewis site for financey things:

Thanks for the link. Appreciated!
Both of these are supposed to be good with pre existing conditions

I do my travel insurance through Barclays Travel Pack.
It costs about £13 pm and, following a chat with the underwriters, will covers my pre existing conditions.
Worth giving them a ring.
We are with staysure.
Might be worth opening a Nationwide Flex Plus account. The worldwide travel insurance element seems to be fairly lenient with pre-existing conditions.

Price check the cost of an annual policy.
We were quoted £150 for 3-weeks cover, and £120 for a full year multi-trip policy - same company, same people insured, and the same level of cover.
My theory is that frequent travellers are at less risk than one-trip tourists or first time travellers.
Another theory would be that frequent travellers are less gullible than 1-trip tourists.
Check out the cost for an annual multi-trip, and use it at least 3-times in 12-months to spread the cost.
Weird stuff. I had a heart problem 10 yrs ago and I've never had any problem getting insured. And certainly not for a higher premium. I searched the internet for the Dutch version of 'heart attack' and 'travel insurance'. Not a single word. The rule here is; if your doctor thinks that it's safe to travel, you can travel. Compare this with driving a car: In Holland, after a heart attack and surgery one is not allowed to drive a car for 6 weeks.
