Yorkshire 3 peak challenge for MIND - Now with a prize draw

I’ve seen many great fundraisers on here – so figured another good cause might get some help from us TZ-ers.

On the weekend of Saturday 27th April my brother & a team of 15 colleagues will take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is a 24 mile circuit taking in the 3 peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

It involves just over 5,000 feet of ascent and it is intended to be completed within 12 hours.
This is quite a tough challenge but with the right training beforehand can be achieved in the allotted time.

    Some more info here :

    · The Three Peaks - take in all three summits in one go
The classic challenge walk - 24 miles, three peaks, 12 hours to complete the circuit. This route description will help guide you.
But go prepared with an Ordnance Survey map and know how to use it.
    · Ingleborough walk
A route to the summit of Ingleborough from Clapham taking in some fantastic limestone scenery
    - the caves of Ingleborough, Gaping Gill and the impressive Trow Gill.
    · Pen-y-ghent walk
Many people's first peak. A classic circuit from Horton-in-Ribblesdale with good paths,
great scenery and the impressive Hunt and Hull Pots on the way down.
    · Whernside walk
Starting from the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct this route takes you to the highest point in Yorkshire - Whernside.
On a clear day there are great views out to the Howgills, the Lake District and Morecambe Bay.

I did the three peaks when I was at school many years ago.
I’ve put a tenner in but don’t want to go in the draw thanks.

    Have a great day.

Thanks for the donations so far.

    Another gentle bump.

Their target is £1500 - if we we get 15-20 of us to pledge a tenner or so to make a nice contribution towards the target & all for a good cause.

And the prize draw for an unusual GMT watch - BNIB worth at least £200 !

Oh my word, I'm absolutely gobsmacked.
I'm really going to enjoy getting to grips with all of the complications and functions - particularly that slide rule bezel which is so up my street
Many thanks to zelig and congratulations again to the team who completed the challenge, raising a fabulous total for such an excellent cause.

    Marvellous!

I'm really impressed with my first Orient, there's a hell of a lot packed into it and it has received Mrs C's seal of approval. I've something of an interest* in circular slide rules so the sliding concentric bezel feature is a real bonus. Massive gratitude and respect to all of the fundraisers involved

    *Okay, more of an obsession.
